OluomoGate: Legislative Autonomy Will Curb Financial Fraud In State Assemblies – Adebutu

ABEOKUTA – The governorship candidate of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ogun State, Hon. Oladipupo Adebutu has argued that the financial autonomy of the legislative arm of government would prevent financial manipulation in State Assemblies.

Hon. Adebutu maintained that, if all arms of government are financially independent, it would curb financial recklessness and executive influence on the legislators.

He stated this on Sunday in Abeokuta at the unification meeting with new defectors from APC, ADC, Labour Party and APM.

According to him, the executive have exploited the legislative arm of government in order to deliberately influence its decisions.

“Definitely autonomy of all government departments is very necessary. It is in this autonomy that we will free hand so that every arms of government will answerable for itself, it is because the executive have deliberately have exploited various aspects of other arms of government that is why you find the Governor going to Abuja to make sure that the speaker is quickly released, what is the business of the Governor if EFCC arrest the Speaker, there must be complicity somewhere, everybody must be given autonomy so that the problem we have with Ogun Speaker can be prevented.”

Hon. Adebutu, therefore, asked PDP faithful to be united as the race for the 2023 general elections draws nearer across the country.

Adebutu said the PDP is one big family and leaders must continue to be united and embrace more members from across parties in the state.

Lado as fondly called remarked that the party has all it takes to win the 2023 general elections, most especially with the overwhelming support from members of the public who are tired of the maladministration of the current government in the state.

Meanwhile, the deputy governorship candidate of the party, Hon. Adekunle Akinlade pointed that failure is not an option as victory is the only recipe for 2023 in the party.

Akinlade emphasized that his major roles would be determined by his principal, Hon. Adebutu and the party’s leadership as he remained absolutely loyal to them.

He eulogized his teeming loyalists who defected to the PDP with him and assured them of maximum recognition in the PDP and when the government is formed in 2023.
