Lisa Residents Cry For Help Over Deplorable Road Condition

ABEOKUTA – Residents of Lisa community in Ifo Local Government area of Ogun State have called on the State government to rescue them from the deplorable road leading to Lisa memorial Arcade ground, centre of 2005 Bellview plane crash.

The monarch stated this at the weekend at the maiden edition of Irewolede Area CDC Community day and launching of Lisa community Civic centre.
Oba Odugbemi narrated that his wider experience of how villages were being developed in Western countries had made him understand that development can only be achieved from “Bottom to Top and not from Top to Bottom”.
The Olu of Lisa kingdom said that he would continue to make his people happy by providing the basic infrastructure to the community, saying that all the projects so far executed in Lisa are for the benefit of the people.
As a promoter of culture and tradition, Oba Odugbemi emphasized his desire to continue to protect the heritage of the founding fathers of culture and tradition.
He commended Governor Abiodun for his relentless effort in ensuring that Ogun State moves forward in terms of development while calling on him to consider Lisa road in his project to enhance the development of the community.
Responding, the Hon. Commissioner for Culture and Tourism Mrs. Adijat Oladapo-Adeleye explained that the deplorable road was inherited by the present government from the past administration.
She noted that the suffering of the community on the deplorable road was due to the neglect of the past administration in the State, assuring that the present administration would interject the road with the ongoing Sango Ota road construction.
Hon. Oladapo-Adeleye hinted that, the state government will engage the services of a private organization to resuscitate the moribund memorial arcade in Lisa.
Mrs Oladapo-Adeleye said that it was regrettable that such money spinning tourist centre would be neglected by previous administrations in the state, adding that if such edifice has been witnessing regular maintenance, the memorial arcade would not have been left rotten away.
THE ENCOUNTER NEWS reports that the memorial arcade was erected in remembrance of victims of plane crash tragedy that occurred in the community.
The Commissioner noted that Prince Dapo Abiodun- led administration in the state feels the pain of the residents in area of infrastructural development, assuring them of urgent intervention from the state government very soon.
She also expressed her displeasure at the deplorable state of road leading to the area from Ijoko – Oyero- Oluke – Lisa axis which was constructed in 2005 as a result of the Plane crash in the community that claimed lives of notable Nigerians.
Mrs. Oladapo-Adeleye also assured the residents of the area that the state government would soon reconstruct the road to promote commercial activities and make life more meaningful to the entire Community members.
She urged members of the Community Development Associations in Lisa to complement the efforts of the state government on infrastructural development since the government alone cannot provide all the basic amenities to its citizens.
