11 Months After, Kidnapped Driver Yet To Be Rescued
ABEOKUTA – A driver, working with Derdum Multi concept Service Limited, Mr. Tayo Osokoya who was kidnapped in October, 2021 is yet to be released by his abductors.
Mr. Osokoya, was abducted while coming from a site inspection along Alamala area, an outskirt environment outside Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital.
According to a staff of the company who escaped from the kidnappers on the fateful day, Mr. Michael Daramola, the victim in the company of some staff of the company had taken some clients who showed interest in buying some piece of the landed property of the company.
Mr. Daramola explained that, on their way back from the site, some unknown hoodlums came out from the forest and double-crossed their vehicles with that of the clients.
He narrated further that the clients and two other occupants in the same vehicle managed to escape through the estate route, while the driver was abducted.
He added efforts of the combined team of security agents including the Police, Army officers, and members of the local Vigilante to rescue the victim proved futile.
He said 48hours later, the kidnappers phoned the CEO of Derdum Multiconcept Service Limited, Mr. Opeoluwa Kilasho demanding N50million ransom, but Mr. Kilasho pleaded to pay N10million.
Daramola said after five days when the CEO could not meet their demand, they threatened to kidnap him and members of his family as well.
He stated that the kidnappers later called the victim’s wife on the phone requesting for the ransom, but the wife pleaded to pay N1million which was later paid by the Company’s Chief Executive Officer.
He, however, said despite the ransom payment, the abductors failed to release the victim.
When contacted, the CEO of Derdum multi-concept service limited, Mr. Opeoluwa Kilasho confirmed the incident.
Mr. Kilasho despite many pleas for the release of his driver, the kidnappers threatened to kidnap him and members of his family.
He added that on two occasions some unknown gunmen attempted to kidnap him, his wife and daughter but failed.
He emphasized that, he had to relocate his family members to unknown destinations for fear of being kidnapped, while his business in Abeokuta has been greatly affected.
Speaking to our reporter on the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer of the State Police command, SP Abimbola Oyeyemi said efforts are underway to rescue the victim.
