113 Under Age Girls Raped, Defiled In Ogun In Nine Months – Investigation

ABEOKUTA – Not less than One Hundred and Thirteen under-age girls have been subjected to various forms of sexual molestation including, rape, defilement, indecent assault, and sexual abuse.

The victims are children between ages of 3 and 17 years.

According to data from the Ogun State Police Command, 34 girls were raped, 68 were defiled, while 8 children were assaulted indecently.

The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abimbola Oyeyemi told THE ENCOUNTER NEWS that, the rape case was less than 1% compared to 2021 reported cases of rape with 35 victims, while 84 girls were defiled in 2021.

Notable among the deficient case of teenage girls was the 84years old man, Stephen Jack who was arrested last week for defiling 8years old girl.

The Police PRO explained that, was arrested at Okun-Owa area of Ijebu-Ode following a report by the victim’s father who reported that he discovered that his daughter was bleeding from.her private part.

Oyeyemi stressed that, when the father queried the young girl, she confessed to have been raped by the 84years old man.

Oyeyemi added that, upon the report, the DPO Obalende division, SP Murphy Salami detailed his detectives to the scene, where the randy old man was apprehended.

The Police spokesman said investigation revealed that the old man is a known pedophile in the area.

Oyeyemi further explained that, a 46-year-old man, Olusegun Oluwole was apprehended for raping his 17years old daughter.

The suspect was arrested following a report at Ibara Police station by the victim.

The victim told police that, while she was asleep, her father suddenly grabbed her and forcefully had sex with her with a threat to kill her if she refused to allow him.

In another development, 38-year-old Pastor Israel Adebayo was arrested for defiling a 14year-old member of his church.

The pastor who is the General Overseer of The Beloved Chapel situated at No 9, Iyaniwura street, off Owonikoko street, Agbado area of Ogun state was arrested following a complaint lodged at Agbado divisional police headquarters by mother of the victim.

The victims’s mother said while she traveled to treat herself for a certain ailment, the pastor lured the girl who is a member of choir to his room and forcefully had carnal knowledge of her.

Similarly, on September 2, 2022, a 48-year-old Pastor of The Light House Gospel Church, Owode Egba in Obafemi Owode local government area of Ogun state, Pastor Michael Abiodun was arrested for defiling and impregnating a 12year-old church member.

The victim’s mother who reported the case to Police said she joined the church because of a spiritual problem which claimed the lives of two of her daughters.

The mother said in order to prevent the same calamity befallen the victim, she took her to the church for deliverance.

On the fateful day, the pastor, a father of three, asked the victim’s mother to send the girl to him for special prayer, but on getting there, the pastor took her into a room within the church and forcefully had carnal knowledge of her which resulted into pregnancy.

When arrested, the Pastor confessed to the commission of the crime, blaming it on devil. The randy pastor confessed to have disflowered the JSS 2 student.

The mother of the victim explained to the Police that since her daughter was not menstruating, it was difficult for her to know that she was pregnant until seven months after.

The victim who delivered of a baby girl three months ago informed the police that she was threatened by the pastor of dare consequences if she informed anybody about what happened between them.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, CP Lanre Bankole has ordered the transfer of the suspect to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation.

Speaking on the menace, a medical practitioner, Dr. Rotimi Akintunde described the act as sad.

Dr. Akintunde attributed the immoral act to parental neglect and self-indulgence, saying there is medical justification for the act.

He blamed the menace on abuse of power and authority.

The Jagunmolu Onifa Egba, Dr. Akinode Akinyemi blamed the new trend on loneliness and boredom.

The traditionalist submitted that some people can not do without having sex in a day due to their high libido.

He added that some of the suspects might be under a spell or spiritual bondage as punishment for their previous actions.

Dr. Akinyemi argued further that, some of the suspects who specialize in the immoral act used teenage girls for the longevity of their life span.
