ABEOKUTA – The Nigeria Football Supporters’ Club (NFSC), Ogun State Chapter has decorated the President of All Stars Football Club, Abeokuta, Alh. Waheed Adeoye Lawal as Patron.
The colourful event took place on Saturday at the All Stars Secretariat, MKO Abiola Stadium, Kuto, Abeokuta.
The Supporters’ Club’s Chairman, Olatokunbo Oladehin said they identified Alh. Lawal as someone who is passionate about the growth of football in the State.
Oladehin disclosed that the Club’s resolve to decorate the All Stars President was as a result of his uniqueness and admiration for the round leather game.
Responding, Alhaji Lawal who is also Patron of Athletics Association of Ogun State, thanked the Supporters Club for recognizing him, assuring them of his relentless support.
The Nigeria Football Supporter Club Patron frowned at the State Government’s decision to put MKO Abiola Stadium’s Mainbowl and Training Pitch under lock.
Lawal, who doubles as the Chairman of Ogun State Teqball Association and Coordinator Ogun State Community Football Development advised the newly inaugurated Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) Board to as a matter of urgency amend the Statutes of the federation to allow more genuine Stakeholders to come on board, he opined that the system that only give the thirty-seven FA Chairmen and a few Stakeholders voting rights is not fair and equitable.
Meanwhile, the All Stars Football Club, Abeokuta equally honoured the newly reelected board member of the Nigeria Football Federation and Chairman of Ogun State Football Association, Alh. Ganiyu Majekodunmi.
Ogun FA Chairman fondly referred to as Alhaji Majek thanked all members and Elders of All Stars FC, Abeokuta, for the honour bestowed on him.
He enjoined all football Stakeholders in the State to come together as one to move the game forward.
Alh. Majek disclosed that a football competition is in the pipeline from the stable of the State FA which will bring together all major All Stars Football Clubs in the State, where they would compete in an atmosphere of friendliness and rancor-free.
He disclosed that the NFF President, Ibrahim Gusau has mandated all States’ FA to own a football Academy, saying a Committee that will see to the modalities of establishing one has just been inaugurated.
Members of the Committee who were on the entourage of the FA Chairman to the All Stars Secretariat included the Chairman of Nigeria Football Coaches Association, Ogun State Chapter, Olasiyinde Bankole, Chairman of the Nigeria Referee Association, Ogun State Chapter, Obayemi Olatunbosun, Ijebu United’s Chief Coach, Akeem Busari, Ogun FA Board Member, Abiodun Odejimi among others.
