How APC Tried To Frustrate My Guber Ambition With 21 Lawsuits – Otegbeye

ABEOKUTA – The governorship candidate of African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Ogun State, Barr. Biyi Otegbeye on Tuesday accused the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) of filing 21 lawsuits challenging his candidacy at the court.

According to Otegbeye, twenty-five lawsuits were filed against him from the ruling party, Labour Party, and All People’s Party (APP) ostensibly to preclude him from contesting the March 11th, 2023 elections.

Otegbeye who spoke addressed journalists in Abeokuta at the party secretariat, hinted that the action of the petitioners was a clear indication that the ruling APC had run out of ideas, hence, the desperate effort to take him out of the ballots.

He maintained that, the alleged attempt by Governor Dapo Abiodun to grab the people’s mandate by running away from legitimate competition was a mockery of democracy.

“To our consternation, twenty-five lawsuits were filed against us, apparently to preclude us from contesting the March 11th, 2023 elections. It is clear that the ruling APC have run out of ideas and the needed justification to demand the people’s mandate for a second term; hence the desperate effort, at taxpayers’ expense, to take us out of the ballot. Unfortunately, they have failed and must now test their much diminished popularity and integrity at the polls.

“It is unfortunate that in Ogun State today, not only is there a new order of misgovernance and maladministration, there is blatant attempt to reverse the gains of our democratic evolution as a nation – through schemes at eliminating electoral competition.

“Therefore, any attempt to grab the people’s mandate by running away from legitimate competition, is nothing but a mockery of democracy. The irredeemable outcomes of such unpopular emergence of transactional leaders are bad governance, corruption, lack of transparency and accountability – such as we have in our State today.

“Good people of Ogun State, I am glad that we are back on track and it is time to end the current decay and fix things right. I am not oblivious of how bad things have become and we shall not start with excuses when we assume office on May 29th 2023.

“Our agenda over the next four years is to fix Ogun State and repair the broken systems. It is clear that the current administration has not been honest and transparent in their dealing with the people. Furthermore, there is adherence to fiscal and budgetary discipline. We shall change this culture from day one.

“The inequalities in our system today are huge and have created enormous distortions in human capital development, infrastructural expansion and economic growth. I want to fix our dear State by creating opportunities for all classes of people and at all times. We want to restore the glory of the Gateway State, enhance the dignity of citizens and establish a culture of collective growth and shared prosperity.”

Otegbeye, however, reeled out his manifestos to include; Qualitative Education with emphasis on STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics), Universal Access to Qualitative Healthcare, Agricultural Revolution & Rural Development Modeling, Rapid Industrialization via Manufacturing Boosters.

Others are Infrastructure Development: Energy & Roads, Water & Sanitation, Social Welfare, Security Ecosystem Development
Institutional Reforms and Capacity Building, Good Governance & Leadership & Values Promotion.
