ABEOKUTA – The lawmaker representing Yewa North/Imeko-Afon Federal Constituency, Gboyega Nasir Isiaka, has called on leaders and members of the All Progressives Congress in Ogun West Senatorial District to embrace unity and resist internal divisions as preparations for the 2027 general elections gather pace.
Isiaka made the call on Wednesday while addressing party leaders, stakeholders and supporters at the formal reception of defectors into the APC in Imeko-Afon Local Government.
The federal lawmaker, who chairs the House of Representatives Committee on National Planning and Economic Development, said there was no justification for internal strife within the party, stressing that the APC had recorded tangible gains at both the federal and constituency levels.
He praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his bold reforms that were already yielding results, urging party members to rally around the administration.
“The President is making good reforms and they are yielding fruits. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has done very well, and he will do even more when he is elected for a second term.”
Turning to achievements within his constituency, Isiaka said elected officials in Ogun West had also delivered concrete results, which should serve as a basis for cohesion rather than rivalry.
“We have also given a good account of ourselves. In our federal constituency, we have constructed schools, built a CBT centre, installed a 10KVA mini substation, renovated health centres, drilled boreholes and rehabilitated a road, among other interventions.”
Isiaka recalled a meeting held in June 2025 involving key political figures from the senatorial district, where a consensus was reached on the need for unity.
“In June 2025, myself, Senator Solomon Adeola, Hon. Adekunle Akinlade and Hon. Akinosi met and agreed that there is absolutely no reason for us to fight,” he said. “We all want good things, but none of us is God. None of us is Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu. None of us is Governor Dapo Abiodun. At the end of the day, the decision of our leaders will prevail, and it will bind all of us.”
He noted that the position had since been reaffirmed by Senator Adeola at the recent APC Ogun west senatorial meeting, warning party members against overheating the polity ahead of 2027.
“The match has not started. We are all warming up. There is no reason to fan the embers of discord.” he said.
Addressing recent speculation surrounding his absence from a senatorial meeting in Ilaro, Isiaka explained that he had earlier informed the APC Ogun West leadership of a previously scheduled personal trip outside the country before the meeting date was fixed.
He said the meeting eventually held while he was away, describing claims that his absence was deliberate or politically motivated as misleading.
The lawmaker reaffirmed his loyalty to the APC and cautioned party members, particularly social media aides, against spreading unverified claims that could fuel internal discord.
Isiaka also urged party faithful to take advantage of the ongoing APC electronic registration exercise to strengthen the party ahead of future elections.
