ABEOKUTA – The management of Comprehensive Academy, Abeokuta has vowed to immortalize the deceased student of the school, Aliyah Ahmed who died last Tuesday.
Aliyah, an SS3 of the school allegedly died at the hospital after reportedly engaging in seizure.
Addressing journalists on Saturday at the school premises, the Proprietor of the school, Hon. Wale Bello regretted the death of the 15year-old girl, saying she remained their second best Student.
Hon. Bello equally refuted ritual allegation by supposed ‘enemies’ of the school.
The Proprietor in company of the National President, Alumni Association of the school, Barr. Habeeb Whyte explained that, the Student slumped around 7am on Tuesday morning while preparing for their tutorial class ahead of their WAEC and JAMB Examinations.
Bello further stressed that, immediately she fell, her colleagues in the tutorial class surrounded her and separated her from the chair that fell on her.
Bello said immediately he got to the scene, he sought the help of other students who took her to the restroom for first aid treatment.
He added that, as soon as she was taken to the restroom, she regained consciousness and her parents were called.
He explained that, when the parent came, the student was awake and they took her to the General hospital, Ijaiye for further treatment.
He said from Ijaiye hospital, some prayer warriors advised the parents to take her to another hospital at Lafenwa where she eventually gave up the ghost.
He emphasized that, the student never died in the school premises as erroneously speculated by the parent.
“This is not the first time she will enter a seizure. We experienced a similar situation last year November or December, she revived at our restroom here and we later took her to the hospital and called the parents. They even refunded the hospital bill we spent that time.
“So, when it happened again last Tuesday, we thought it was same seizure she had last year.
“The truth of the matter was that, on Tuesday morning around 7am, I rang the bell for the students to assemble at the auditorium for their early morning tutorial in preparation for their WAEC and JAMB examinations, because that has been our usual routine since 20years ago we started graduating students into higher institutions, we camped them and gave them close monitoring day and night and we have never had any incident like this or case of missing child.
“As soon as the bell was rang the female students ran to the auditorium and I was outside waiting for the male students to leave their hostel.
“While I was waiting for the male students on the field, I saw Aliyah on the floor surrounded by her colleagues trying to lift her up. Immediately I entered the hall, I sought the assistance of her friends who helped in carrying her to the rest room for first aid treatment and we called the parents immediately.
“Before her parents arrived, she had woken up and the parents took her to the state hospital at Ijaiye. It was at the Ijaiye hospital the parent took her again to another hospital at Lafenwa and continuously praying for her.
“Later they took her to First Alpha hospital where she was confirmed dead. I was in shock when the operatives of DSS invited me for questioning. And I explained what I knew.
“In a separate room, the DSS officers invited some students of the school to their office and interrogated them. Infact, the students made some revelations that I was not privy to the DSS. Thereafter, I was released.
“It was even the DSS officers that advised me not to visit the bereaved family for now because of the circumstances surrounding the girl’s death.
“As if that was not enough, I started hearing some unfounded rumour. The Aliyah parents I know will never demean the image of the school. They must have been influenced by the so called bloggers or some disgruntled elements who are not happy with the school progression.
“We want to remember Aliyah forever. We are going to immortalize her. We are going to give a befitting place if the parents do not stop us. We have many things that we can name after Aliyah because she was a good child. And the father too, is an orderly person that loves the school.
“The Ministry of Education officers have been here and questioned us for you over seven hours. We have no skeleton in our cupboard. We are open to investigation.”
