TASUED: Group Urges Abiodun To Correct Unequal Distribution Of Tertiary Institutions In Ogun
ABEOKUTA – Following the Federal Government’s recent adoption of Tai Solarin University of Education (TASUED) in Ijagun, Ijebu Ode, a sociocultural group, Alaketu Illustrious Descendants (A.I.D.), has called on Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun to relocate the state-owned university of education to Yewa.
The group expressed gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the federal adoption of TASUED, but argued that establishing a new state university of education in Ogun West would help correct the imbalance in the distribution of higher institutions and developmental projects across the state.
“We are genuinely happy and grateful for President Tinubu’s gesture, but we urge Governor Abiodun to relocate the existing State University of Education to Ogun West,” the group stated.
They emphasized that such move would balance educational opportunities across Ogun’s three senatorial districts and attract further development, ensuring Ogun West becomes one of the state’s academic hubs.
Acknowledging the financial constraints faced by the government in establishing new institutions, the group suggested that the state temporarily use existing secondary schools such as Comprehensive High School, Ayetoro, Ketu College Igan Alade, Orita Community High School Oja Odan or Yewa High School, Igbogila, as take-off campuses.
The Alaketu Illustrious Descendants concluded by urging Governor Abiodun to use his remaining time in office to address the marginalization of Ogun West and correct the unequal distribution of educational and developmental projects before the end of his tenure.
