ABEOKUTA – The Director – General of the National Sports Commission, Hon. Bukola Olopade, is set to make an impactful appearance on the field as he strikes for the Southern team in this year’s SWAN Selected Match — a highly anticipated face-off between sports journalists from Southern and Northern Nigeria.
The SWAN Selected Match is a tradition at every National Sports Festival, bringing together members of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) in a competitive yet friendly battle of skill and strategy.
This year’s edition is scheduled to take place at the mainbowl of M.K.O Sports Arena, Kuto, Abeokuta, kicking off at 7 a.m. on Tuesday, May 27, 2025.
Fans and sports enthusiasts can expect a thrilling encounter as Olopade—known for his deep commitment to Nigerian sports development—joins forces with the Southern team in a friendly match with their Northern counterparts.
SWAN selected match would be the first football match that would be played on M.K.O. Sports Arena field after its renovation for the National Sports Festival.
