Ogun PDP Flags Off 55-Man Campaign Committee For Remo Federal Constituency Bye-Election

ABEOKUTA – Ahead of the Saturday’s Federal House of Representatives bye-election for the Remo North Federal Constituency, the Ogun State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has inaugurated the campaign council for the House of Representatives candidate of the party, Hon. Bolarinwa Oluwole.

Bolarinwa is seeking to replace the late Hon. Adewunmi Oriyomi Onanuga, the former lawmaker representing the constituency, who passed away in January after a brief illness.

Hon. Onanuga, until her death, served as the Deputy Chief Whip of the House.

Addressing party faithful and stakeholders at the event, held at the palace of the Akarigbo of Remo, in Sagamu on Monday, the party governorship candidate in the last election, Hon. Ladi Adebutu appealed to members of the party to cast their votes enmass for Bolarinwa in the Saturday 16 election.

Adebutu disclosed that the candidacy of Bolarinwa is to correct the wrongs of Governor Dapo Abiodun in the Remo constituency, lamenting that the governor has failed to served the people better.

He said “This man has been a shame and a curse on Remo that’s why this constituency is ready to pay him back for this failure this is my own third term this is Bola Oluwole I stand by him and by the grace of God I appeal to everybody that truly believes in me to stand by him.

“Let us win this for Remo. Let us win this for sanity. Let us show that there is punishment for bad governance. There is punishment for bad governance because this one has destroyed us.

In his opening address, the party Chairman, Mr. Abayomi Tella alledged that the last governorship election in the state was rigged by the rulling APC, insisting that the PDP will not allow a repeat of that in the coming bye-election.

Tella highted the need for PDP loyalists to uphold peace in the election and cast their votes without the fear of the opposition.

Tella stated “This is time, we will not allow what happened during the last to repeat itself. I urge you to go out and cast your votes for PDP. Don’t be afraid of the opposition. Nobody can intimidate you.

“Dont indulge in violence and dont allow your votes to be rigged or stolen. Stay by your votes!

Earlier in his speech, Bolarinwa appealed to members of the party to shun violence in the election while also warning against ballot box snatching and violence.

Bolarinwa, who called on governor Abiodun to allow fairness in the election, equally warned the APC against rigging.

He said “Our governor should go and think about it. If he tries to allow my vote to be stolen, he should fear God. He should not allow that to happen. I think he’s a Christian, so he should know that.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by the party leaders and other faithful in the state.
