Eiye Cult Threat: Nigerian Man in Dublin Cries Out for Protection After Stepson Kills Mother

ABEOKUTA – A Nigerian man, Edward Oluwaseun Olatunji who relocated recently to Dublin, Ireland, has raised alarm over an alleged plot by members of the notorious Eiye Confraternity to eliminate him and his family following his report of his stepbrother, Edward Hassan, to the police authority.

The group, according to him, has already struck by killing his mother at her residence in Ibadan, Oyo State.

In an SOS petition obtained by journalists, Olatunji appealed to the Nigeria Police Force to intervene urgently, saying his life and that of his wife and children were no longer safe.

According to him, the trouble began on June 15, 2025, at his residence in Akure, Ondo State, when he stumbled upon a blue beret with the emblem of an eagle hidden inside a bag belonging to his stepbrother, Hassan Bolaji.

“I was searching for a cloth that morning and decided to check the visitor’s room occupied by my stepbrother. While checking, I found a blue beret with an eagle symbol hidden inside a bag. I called my wife through a video call immediately and showed her what I discovered because she was still in church,” he said.

He explained that following constant reports against his step brother by his wife made the discovery suspicious and prompted him to alert the police, who visited his residence to conduct a thorough search.

“When the police came, they found not only the beret but also a light weapon and some charms. The officers confirmed that the blue beret was used by members of the Eiye cult group and that they were celebrating their Founders’ Day on that day and the command is aware of their plots to carry out attacks in the state. They tried to reach Hassan and told him to report to the station,” he narrated.

Olatunji said Hassan did not return home that night but called around 10:00 p.m. to issue a threat.

“He told me on the phone that I had priced him and that I would pay for it. Not long after, we began to hear strange voices outside our compound, shouting that they would deal with me and my family for exposing their number two member,” he recalled.

He said fear gripped his household as they stayed indoors throughout the night. “At about 5:30 a.m. the following morning, while having our morning devotion, we saw masked men sneaking into the compound.

“We ran through the back door and jumped over the fence. My wife fell and dislocated her left wrist, while I suffered a dislocation on my right knee. We shouted for help until local vigilantes came and fired shots to chase them away,” he said.

He disclosed that the gang was able to access the compound because Hassan had a spare key to the house.

“That was how we escaped death that morning. We later ran to our church where Pastor Anthony gave us shelter in the instrument room. The cult boys came to the church looking for us but couldn’t find anyone because we had gone to the hospital. From there, we hid in a nearby farm before travelling at night to Abuja,” he recounted.

Olatunji said both he and his wife received treatment at the specialist hospital before leaving for a location he declined to disclose, citing safety concerns.

While in Abuja, he said he received a call from a U.S. number, which later turned out to be a former schoolmate identified as Rotimi, popularly known as Roller.

“He sent me a view-once message that contained a picture of my family with a death threat written on it. I quickly snapped the image with my wife’s phone before it disappeared. He told me that the Eiye confraternity is powerful and has members in politics, the military, and entertainment. He said they never forgive and that it would be hard for me to escape,” he revealed.

Olatunji added that his worst fear came true when his mother was later killed at her residence in Ibadan by a group allegedly led by his stepbrother, Hassan.

“They murdered my mother because they couldn’t find me. She was my only surviving parent, and now she’s gone because of Hassan’s actions,” he said in tears.

He said he got the shocking news of his mother’s death through a phone call from his sister, Mrs Lawal Toyin, who informed him of the tragedy.

According to him, the threats have continued as his family members still receive strange calls and messages.

“I no longer sleep peacefully. My wife and children are constantly terrified. We can’t return home because these people are determined to wipe us out,” he lamented.

Olatunji disclosed that he relocated abroad through the assistance of a good Samaritan when the threats intensified, while his wife and children remain in Nigeria.

He said he arrived in Dublin on September 2, 2025, and has since been living in fear even outside the country.

The Dublin-based Nigerian appealed to the country’s security agencies to act swiftly. “I am calling on the DSS, the Police, and every relevant authority to help us before it’s too late. These people are dangerous and have connections everywhere. I have lost my mother already; I don’t want to lose my wife or children too,” he pleaded.
