MAPOLY Mass Communication Alumni Donates 16 Channels Audio Console To Poly Radio

ABEOKUTA – The Convergers, 2013 set of the Department of Mass Communication, Moshood Abiola Polytechnic (MAPOLY), Abeokuta have donated a 16-channel audio console to the institution’s radio station, Mapoly Radio 99.7 FM.

The presentation took place on Monday at the Polytechnic’s Rector’s office.

Presenting the broadcast equipment to the Polytechnic management, the set Coordinator, Mr. Abimbola Sobajo, said the donation was parts of efforts of the set to contribute to the growing transformation of the institution by the Rector, Architect Babatunde Jolaoso.

Sobajo maintained that, the equipment would assist the students in their practical exposure and support their career development.

He emphasized the need for alumni associations to contribute meaningfully to the growth of their alma mater.

He noted that institutions thrive when past students remain connected and committed to their progress.

According to him, the donation of the 16-channel audio console is aimed at enhancing practical training for Mass Communication students, improving broadcast quality at Mapoly Radio, and supporting the institution’s drive toward academic excellence.

He submitted that giving back is not merely an act of charity but a responsibility that reflects gratitude for the foundation laid by the school.

Also speaking, the set departmental President, Mr. Michael-Azeez Ogunsiji, appreciated the Rector and the management team for the warm reception accorded to members of The Convergers.

He commended the leadership of the institution for creating an enabling environment that encourages alumni engagement and partnership.

Ogunsiji lauded the Rector’s transformational drive especially with the Centre for Entrepreneurship Development which has equipped students with job creation skills and to be self-sufficient after graduation.

In his remarks, the set Caretaker Chairman of the Students’ Union Government (SUG), Mr. Abdul-Gaffer Adeleye, expressed gratitude to the management for the honour and recognition given to the group.

He highlighted that such collaboration between alumni and school authorities strengthens institutional development and inspires current students to uphold the values of excellence and service.

Expressing gratitude to the set, the General Manager of Mapoly Radio, Deacon Kunle Oluwusi, described the gesture as timely and impactful.

He stated that the audio console would significantly improve studio operations and called on other alumni groups and graduating sets to emulate the example set by The Convergers in supporting the development of the Polytechnic.

In his appreciation, the Rector of the Polytechnic, Arc. Babatunde Jolaoso, thanked members of The Convergers for demonstrating genuine commitment to the growth of their alma mater.

He noted that their support adds value to the success of his administration and contributes meaningfully to the advancement of the institution.

The Rector used the opportunity to charge other alumni to emulate the spirit of generosity and responsibility displayed by The Convergers.

Present at the event were the Head of Department, Mass Communication, Dr. Wasiu Tejuoso; the General Manager of Mapoly Radio, Deacon Kunle Oluwusi; and the Polytechnic Public Relations Officer, alongside other principal officers of the institution.
