Ajibosin Platform Announces 3rd Annual Symposium, Endorses Yayi’s Ogun Governorship Bid
ABEOKUTA – The Ajibosin Platform has officially commenced preparations for the 3rd Edition of its Annual Symposium and the presentation of the latest Ajibosin Book of Proceedings, while also declaring political support for the APC governorship candidate, Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, ahead of the 2027 Ogun State governorship race.
In a formal letter addressed to Balogun of Owu and former president Olusegun Obasanjo, the Convener of the Ajibosin Platform, the Aare Mayegun of Owu Kingdom, Prince Kazeem Adeyanju Bakinson announced the start of activities leading to the symposium and the presentation of the third edition of the Ajibosin Book of Proceedings.
The platform expressed deep appreciation for the opportunity to present the first and second editions of the publication during Chief Obasanjo’s 89th birthday dinner.
According to the letter, the initiative has been significantly inspired by the former president’s directive to sustain the documentation of intellectual discourse and cultural heritage.
As part of efforts to expand its global reach, the Ajibosin Platform also proposed presenting copies of the book at the forthcoming Odun Omo Olowu Festival, scheduled to take place in May 2026 in London.
The move, according to Prince Adeyanju is aimed at engaging the diaspora community and projecting the platform on an international stage.
The formal presentation of the 3rd Edition of the Ajibosin Book of Proceedings is slated for Friday, October 30, 2026, at 10:00 a.m.
The event will be held at the Main Auditorium of OOPL, followed by a dinner at 5:00 p.m. at the Small Marquee within the same venue.
Adding intellectual depth to the occasion, the Director-General of the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), Professor Ayo Omotayo, has been confirmed as the Guest Speaker.
The Ajibosin Platform reiterated its commitment to fostering intellectual engagement and cultural preservation, while also seeking the continued guidance, support, and encouragement of the traditional institution to ensure the success of the upcoming symposium.
The Annual Symposium has steadily grown into a significant forum for dialogue, bringing together scholars, policymakers, and cultural stakeholders to discuss issues of national development and heritage preservation.
The forthcoming third edition is expected to further consolidate these objectives and strengthen the platform’s international presence.
Beyond the intellectual and cultural agenda, the Ajibosin Platform also used the opportunity to signal its political stance ahead of the Ogun State governorship election.
The Convener, Bakinson announced the endorsement of Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola (Yayi), praising the political climate in the state.
Bakinson, speaking on behalf of the platform, hailed the political maturity of Ogun State’s political class for rallying around Yayi’s candidacy “without rancour,” describing the development as a testament to unity and progressive leadership within the state.
The statement further revealed that Owu youths have pledged massive grassroots support for the senator, promising to deliver the highest number of votes through an intensive door-to-door campaign strategy.
The mobilisation effort is expected to strengthen Yayi’s political base, particularly within the Owu Kingdom and surrounding communities.
