Don’t Exchange Your Ambition For Dapo Abiodun’s Short-term Political Appointments, APM Chairman Tells APC Aspirants
ABEOKUTA – The Ogun State Chairman of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM), Comrade Abayomi Sanyaolu, has urged governorship and legislative aspirants in the state to resist what he described as attempts by the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and factional PDP to lure them into shelving their ambitions in exchange for short-term political appointments.
Sanyaolu made the call in a statement issued on behalf of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) in Ogun State, where he cautioned aspirants against accepting what he termed “12-month appointments” that could derail long-term political aspirations ahead of the 2027 general elections.
According to him, recent developments within the APM, particularly the mass defection of politicians to the party in Oyo State in particular and the Southwest in general.
He said the purchase of the senatorial nomination form by Bauchi state Governor, was a clear indicator that the APM is gaining national momentum and offers a credible alternative platform for serious aspirants.
“These developments are a good omen for Ogun aspirants who are positive-minded and genuinely committed to public service,” Sanyaolu said.
“The APC has reached its peak in Ogun State and has exhausted its goodwill. The factional PDP is a dead corpse waiting for burial ceremony.
“The ominous signs are clear that the APC will lose power in the coming election. Therefore, God has positioned APM to take over from Gov. Dapo Abiodun on May 29, 2027.”
The APM chairman maintained that the ruling party’s strategy of dangling temporary appointments before aspirants was aimed at weakening opposition ranks and stifling internal democracy.
He advised politicians with genuine ambitions to align with parties that provide a level playing field rather than settle for what he described as “political distractions.”
Sanyaolu stressed that the APM remains the only viable platform capable of rescuing and advancing the aspirations of credible and progressive politicians in Ogun State, promising that the party would offer transparent processes and robust support to its candidates ahead of 2027 general election.
He called on stakeholders and supporters to continue mobilising across the state, adding that the APM was poised to capitalise on growing public dissatisfaction and present a formidable challenge in the next electoral cycle.
