Ogun: PDP Better Alternative To Failed APC Administration, Adebutu Declares After Emerging Consensus Candidate

ABEOKUTA – Oladipupo Adebutu has declared that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) remains the best alternative to what he described as the “failed administration” of the All Progressives Congress in Ogun State, following his emergence as the PDP’s consensus governorship candidate in Ogun state for the 2027 election.

Adebutu made the declaration on Sunday during his acceptance speech after party leaders, stakeholders, executives and members unanimously adopted him as the party’s flag bearer for the 2027 governorship race.

Describing the moment as historic, Adebutu expressed gratitude to God and appreciation to PDP leaders and members across the state for what he called their unwavering confidence in his leadership and candidacy.

He recalled the 2023 governorship election, insisting that the PDP won the poll but was allegedly denied victory through manipulation.

He, however, expressed optimism that the 2027 election would reflect the true will of the people.

“This time in 2027, I believe in God that your votes will count and will put me in office as your duly elected Governor,” Adebutu stated.

The PDP candidate urged members of the party to remain peaceful and united, stressing that internal harmony would be critical to reclaiming power from the APC-led administration in the state.

According to him, the APC has governed Ogun State for over 15 years under different political arrangements without delivering the level of development expected by the people despite the state’s abundant human and natural resources.

He accused the ruling party of subjecting residents to hardship and poor governance, adding that Ogun State requires purposeful and competent leadership capable of harnessing its strategic economic and geographical advantages.

“Our victory lies largely in working together assiduously as one united party and people to convince the electorate why we are a better alternative to the failed APC administration,” he said.

Adebutu assured residents that the PDP was prepared to deliver quality governance and promised that the party’s policy direction and development agenda for Ogun State would be unveiled at the appropriate time.

He also praised aspirants who stepped down for consensus arrangements at various levels within the party, saying their sacrifices demonstrated commitment to party unity and collective success.

“There is no loser among us; we have all won for the party and for the good people of Ogun State,” he added while calling on stakeholders and supporters to close ranks ahead of the 2027 elections.
