Ijebu North/East Fed. Const: No Bills, No Projects in Three Years, Attacker Attacks Hon. Adegbesan Over ‘Non-Performance’
ABEOKUTA – A former Deputy Chief Whip of the House of Representatives, Hon. Adesegun Adekoya, has criticised the lawmaker representing Ijebu North/Ijebu East/Ogun Waterside Federal Constituency, Hon. Joseph Adegbesan, over what he described as poor representation and lack of impactful projects in the constituency.
Adekoya, who previously represented the constituency at the National Assembly, challenged Adegbesan to present his achievements after three years in office, insisting that the people had not felt the impact of his representation.
“I challenge Hon. Joseph Adegbesan to show his account of stewardship in the last three years at the House of Representatives.
“For 36 months, he has not sponsored a bill for the betterment of Ijebu North and Ogun Waterside Federal Constituency. Let him show one project he facilitated or initiated for the constituency.”
The former federal lawmaker alleged that projects initiated during his tenure had been abandoned by the current representative, a development he said had further deepened dissatisfaction among constituents.
“All my legacy projects are there abandoned,” he added.
Adekoya claimed that many residents of the constituency were now regretting their electoral decision, maintaining that the current representation had fallen below expectations.
“Our people are regretting voting for him, but I want to assure them that their suffering is over. I’m coming back,” he declared.
The PDP chieftain also linked the growing dissatisfaction among the people to the broader performance of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), both at the state and federal levels.
According to him, worsening economic hardship, insecurity and alleged imposition within the ruling party could lead to major political shifts ahead of the 2027 general elections.
“You can see the level of imposition in the ruling party. By 2027, there will be surprises for APC,” he stated.
Adekoya further argued that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) remained strong and united in Ogun State, dismissing claims that the opposition party had lost relevance.
“The point has been made by the people. The insinuation that PDP is dead in Ogun State has been totally erased,” he said.
Speaking on the recent PDP governorship primary in Ogun State, Adekoya expressed satisfaction with the conduct of the exercise, noting that all the 236 wards in the state participated successfully.
“I am satisfied with the conduct and process of the governorship primary. All the 236 wards in Ogun State conducted their primary and brought their results to the collation centre where Hon. Ladi Adebutu was declared winner unanimously,” he said.
