Ogun Police Arrests Father, Son Recovers Firearms, Stolen Tecno Android Phone

ABEOKUTA – The Ogun State Police Command has recorded a series of coordinated intelligence-led operations across different divisions of the State, resulting in the arrest of a father and son among five other suspects.

Recovered from the suspects are; four (4) firearms comprising one (1) locally made pistol, one (1) locally fabricated pistol, and two (2) dane guns, as well as one (1) live cartridge and a stolen Tecno Android phone valued at ₦180,000.

The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Babaseyi Oluseyi in a statement issued in Abeokuta on Thursday said operatives of Afon Division arrested a father, Fatai Adegbola and his son, Waliu Adegbola, aged 23 years, following a report of stealing received on May 22, 2026 at about 1930hrs.

According to Babaseyi, the suspect, Waliu Adegbola, was alleged to have stolen a Tecno Android phone valued at ₦180,000 from a residential apartment on May 8, 2026.

He explained that, the operatives acting on credible intelligence swiftly tracked and recovered the stolen phone.

Further discreet investigation led to a search of the suspects’ residence conducted pursuant to a duly obtained warrant, during which a locally made pistol and a dane gun were recovered, allegedly concealed within the premises.

He added that, the suspects are in custody, while investigation is ongoing to determine their full involvement and possible accomplices.

Similarly, Operatives of Ilisan Remo Division recovered a locally fabricated pistol with one live cartridge during a routine patrol at Ilisan Remo Roundabout on Wednesday at about 0730hrs.

The item was discovered abandoned and immediately secured by the patrol team. The exhibit has been deposited in the Division’s armoury for safe custody, while investigation is ongoing to trace its origin and ownership.

In another development, Operatives of Ode Remo Division arrested a 25years old Inioluwa Adesanya, in connection with the theft of a dane gun belonging to a resident of Ode Remo.

The Police PRO said investigation revealed that the suspect gained access to the complainant’s residence under the guise of a carpenter’s assistant engaged for renovation work and subsequently stole the firearm.

He stressed further that, during investigation, the suspect confessed to the offence and admitted affiliation with the Aye confraternity, further stating that the weapon was modified for concealment purposes.

The recovered dane gun has been secured as exhibit, while the suspect remains in custody pending transfer to SCID, Eleweran, Abeokuta, for discreet investigation and prosecution.

All cases have been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Eleweran, Abeokuta, for further discreet investigation and prosecution.

The Commissioner of Police, Ogun State Command, CP Bode Ojajuni, psc, FCSS, MNIPR, commended the operatives for their professionalism, swift response, and effective intelligence-led policing, reaffirming the Command’s commitment to sustained operations against violent crime, cultism, armed robbery, and illegal possession of firearms across the State.
