2027 Guber: Oladele Insists PDP Has Lost Electoral Appeal, Not A Choice Party In Ogun

ABEOKUTA – A former Acting Executive Chairman of the Federal Character Commission (FCC) and chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Hon. Kayode Oladele has declared that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has lost its electoral appeal in Ogun State, insisting that the party no longer represents a credible choice for voters ahead of the 2027 governorship election.
Oladele said years of internal divisions, leadership crises and the absence of a coherent political direction have diminished the PDP’s standing, while the APC has continued to strengthen its position through what he described as purposeful governance and measurable performance at both the federal and state levels.
He maintained that the contrast between the two parties has become increasingly evident to the electorate, noting that while the PDP has remained engrossed in internal disagreements and leadership crisis, the APC has concentrated on governance and the delivery of tangible benefits to Nigerians.
“The PDP is no longer a party of choice in Ogun State. The people are interested in leadership that delivers results, not a party that is permanently distracted by internal disputes. The APC has continued to justify the confidence reposed in it through responsible governance and policies that are aimed at improving the lives of the people,” he said.
Oladele argued that no political party in Nigeria today can rival the performance of the APC, particularly under the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
According to him, although the present administration inherited serious economic and fiscal challenges, it has demonstrated uncommon courage by undertaking reforms that previous governments were unwilling to implement.
He said the measures introduced by the Tinubu administration are already laying the foundation for a stronger economy through improved public finances, renewed investor confidence, expanded infrastructure and increased investments in critical sectors.
“The APC remains the only political party with the courage to confront difficult national challenges. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has taken decisions that may have required sacrifice in the short term, but they are essential for the country’s long term stability and prosperity. Leadership is about making difficult decisions in the public interest and that is precisely what this administration has done.”
Oladele expressed confidence that Nigerians would reward President Tinubu with a second term in office, saying continuity would enable the administration to consolidate the gains of the ongoing reforms.
“I have every confidence that President Tinubu will secure another mandate in 2027. The reforms are beginning to produce encouraging results and Nigerians will increasingly appreciate the long term value of the policies that are being implemented today.”
Shifting attention to Ogun State, the former federal lawmaker said the APC has further consolidated its popularity through the developmental initiatives and constituency interventions of Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola Yayi.
He described the senator as the most qualified, experienced and widely accepted governorship candidate in the state, adding that his performance has transformed public perception of legislative representation.
According to Oladele, Senator Adeola has executed projects across Ogun West, Ogun Central and Ogun East without discrimination, ensuring that communities in every part of the state benefit from his representation.
He listed schools, health facilities, roads, water schemes, electricity projects and other community based interventions among projects facilitated by the senator, saying they have improved the quality of life in many communities.
Oladele also described Senator Adeola’s empowerment programmes as unprecedented in the political history of Ogun State.
He said thousands of young people, women, artisans, traders and farmers have benefited from business grants, vocational training, scholarships, agricultural support, commercial vehicles tricycles, work tools and other economic empowerment initiatives designed to promote self reliance and expand opportunities for productive enterprise.
“What Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola has accomplished has raised the standard of public representation in Ogun State. His projects are visible across the state and his empowerment programmes have directly impacted thousands of households.
Oladele also commended the Senator representing Ogun East Senatorial District and former Governor of Ogun State, Otunba Gbenga Daniel, for publicly endorsing Senator Adeola’s governorship aspiration on national television.
He described the endorsement as a significant boost to the growing statewide support for Senator Adeola, saying it demonstrated a shared commitment among progressive leaders to the continued development of Ogun State.
According to him, “Otunba Gbenga Daniel has demonstrated admirable statesmanship by openly identifying with Senator Yayi’s aspiration. His endorsement is a recognition of competence, capacity and proven leadership.
“It also reflects the growing consensus among respected political leaders across Ogun State that Senator Yayi possesses the experience, vision and character required to lead the state from 2027.”
Oladele noted that the endorsement complements the broad support Senator Adeola has continued to receive from political leaders, traditional rulers, professional groups, community organisations, youth associations and ordinary citizens across Ogun West, Ogun Central and Ogun East.
He said the growing coalition of support around the senator has reinforced the APC’s confidence ahead of the next governorship election.
“The APC approaches the 2027 elections from a position of strength because our record is visible and our candidates have earned the confidence of the people through service. At the national level, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is repositioning Nigeria through courageous reforms.
“In Ogun State, Governor Dapo Abiodun has sustained the developmental momentum of the state, while Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola has demonstrated exceptional commitment to the welfare of the people”.
“I am convinced that the people of Ogun State will once again choose competence, continuity and performance by supporting the APC in the 2027 elections.”
He expressed confidence that the APC would continue to retain the trust of Nigerians because of what he described as its unwavering commitment to development, responsible leadership and national progress.
