RIYE U15: Psalm E, Tunde Delu Donate ₦1 Million Celebrity Relay Prize to Young Athletes in Ogun State

ABEOKUTA – The winners of the celebrity relay race at the grand finale of the RIYE Under-15 Athletics Circuit, Afro Hip Hop rapper Psalm E and Hon Tunde Delu have donated their ₦1 million prize money to young athletes in the four sporting zones in Ogun State to support grassroots sports development.

The grand finale of the maiden championship was held at the MKO Abiola Sports Arena, Kuto, Abeokuta, where the duo emerged victorious in the entertaining celebrity relay event.

Rather than keep the cash prize, Hon. Tunde Delu and Psalm E agreed to channel the money through the Ogun State Sports Council for the benefit of young athletes in the Remo, Ijebu, Yewa, and Egba sporting zones.

Speaking after making the donation, Psalm E said the decision was driven by the desire to ensure that young athletes across the state have access to basic training gear and equipment that would aid their development.

“This championship is about giving our young athletes the platform and resources they need to succeed. We felt the best use of the prize money was to invest it back into the future of these children. By donating the ₦1 million to the four sporting zones, we are helping to provide training equipment that will support their growth and encourage them to keep pursuing their dreams”.

Hon. Delu on his part expressed appreciation to all the celebrities who participated in the relay race, describing their presence as a major source of inspiration for the young athletes.

“I sincerely appreciate every celebrity who honoured our invitation. They took time out to be here, not just to entertain but to inspire these children. Many of these young athletes look up to them, and seeing them compete and interact with them creates memories that will stay with these kids for a long time.”

The celebrity relay race featured some of Ogun State’s popular entertainers and media personalities, including renowned influencer Jack, popularly known as Man of Letters, comedians and event hosts MC Bishop and Prolific Hephta.

Other participants included MC Trick, Tobi Omo Elegbede (TOE), Da Preacher, MC NDA, and Dr. Spencer. Also present was Dr Smile and several other personalities who added excitement to the event.

The RIYE Under-15 Athletics Circuit, organised by the Tunde Delu Initiative under the auspices of the Young Athletes Yield Initiative brought together young athletes from the Remo, Ijebu, Yewa and Egba sporting zones, with the competition aimed at discovering and developing future sporting champions in Ogun State.
