Olowu Confers ‘Aare Bobatolu’ Title on Senator Adeola, Backs 2027 Governorship Bid
ABEOKUTA – The Olowu of Owu Kingdom, Oba (Prof.) Saka Adeola Matemimola, has conferred the traditional title of Aare Bobatolu of Owu Kingdom on the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate for Ogun State, Senator Solomon Adeola, in recognition of his contributions to infrastructure development and his impact on communities.
The monarch also expressed support for Adeola’s aspiration to become Governor of Ogun State in the 2027 governorship election.
Oba Matemimola spoke on Friday when Adeola, accompanied by his running mate, Alhaja Kudirat Abiodun Adegunwa-Balogun, visited the monarch at his palace in Abeokuta, Ogun Central Senatorial District.
The Olowu said the development of his kingdom and improvement in the welfare of his subjects remained priorities for him, noting that Adeola’s interventions in road infrastructure within Owu communities had demonstrated a commitment to development.
The monarch said, “I am a lover of development and impacting on the lives of my people. That was the reason for the establishment of the Olowu Hope Initiatives, which is impacting on 200,000 people daily.
“I am aware of your development efforts in your primary senatorial district and other parts of the state, including Owu Kingdom. I am therefore bestowing on you the title of ‘Aare Bobatolu of Owu Kingdom’ for your development strides and your promises to do more as elected governor.”
Also speaking at the occasion, the Osi of Egbaland, High Chief Bode Mustapha, said he and other Egba leaders, including former Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Tunji Egbetokun, began supporting Adeola’s governorship aspiration about 13 years ago.
Mustapha said their support was based on their conviction that Adeola had the capacity to lead the state, expressing confidence that he would promote development if elected governor.
Similarly, the Towulade of Akinale Owu, Oba Oluseyi Adediran, affirmed Adeola’s capacity to govern the state, citing infrastructure projects executed in his community as evidence of the senator’s development efforts.
He specifically noted that Adeola had facilitated the completion of a two-kilometre critical link road in the area.
Earlier, Senator Adeola Yayi told the royal fathers that he was not a stranger to the Olowu’s palace, stressing that he had consistently identified with development initiatives of the Owu people.
He said his visit was aimed at seeking the royal blessings and support of the monarch and the people of Owu for his 2027 governorship aspiration.
Yayi said his interventions in government had always been designed to create tangible benefits for the people, citing his empowerment programmes and infrastructure projects as examples.
“In all that I do in government, I always factor in positive impact on the people. All my empowerment programmes and infrastructure projects are targeted at impact on people.
“I am happy that the Olowu is impacting on 200,000 people per day through the Olowu Hope Initiatives. I am going to partner with the initiative now and in the future for more beneficial impact,” he said.
