Yewa North/Imeko-Afon: NDC Candidate Slams APC Over ‘Failed Promises’ During Ward Tour
ABEOKUTA – The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) candidate for the Yewa North/Imeko-Afon Federal Constituency, Oluwadara Kehinde, has criticised the All Progressives Congress (APC) led administration over what he described as its failure to deliver the dividends of democracy to Nigerians.
Kehinde spoke during his ward to ward tour of the constituency, where he engaged residents, community leaders and supporters on the challenges confronting the people ahead of the forthcoming general election.
The NDC candidate alleged that the performance of the APC led government had fallen short of the expectations of Nigerians, particularly amid the rising cost of living and growing economic difficulties faced by households.
“The failures of the APC led administration have reached an alarming level. Nigerians are struggling, families are finding it increasingly difficult to cope and the dividends of democracy are not getting to the people who need them most,” Kehinde said.
He argued that governance should be measured by its impact on the lives of ordinary citizens, insisting that political leadership must translate into tangible development and improved welfare.
According to him, “People do not need endless promises and political rhetoric. They need good roads, economic opportunities, quality education, accessible healthcare and genuine representation that responds to their everyday challenges.”
Kehinde said his ward to ward tour was designed to take his campaign directly to the people and provide an opportunity for him to hear their concerns without relying solely on reports from political structures.
He added, “This election is about the people. It is about whether we are satisfied with the direction of our country and whether we are ready to demand a new approach to representation and governance.”
The NDC candidate urged voters in Yewa North and Imeko-Afon to scrutinise the records of candidates and political parties before casting their ballots, stressing that the electorate had the power to demand accountability from those seeking their mandate.
He pledged that, if elected, his legislative agenda would focus on constituency development, economic empowerment, infrastructure, youth opportunities and policies aimed at improving the welfare of constituents.
