2027: Ogun Voters Too Wise To Be Bought, Says PDP Assembly Candidate

ABEOKUTA – The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for Abeokuta South State Constituency II, Hon. Adeoye Adewale Adeniran, popularly known as “A3”, has asserted that no right-thinking resident of Ogun State will cast a vote for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the upcoming elections.

He spoke while appearing on the Abeokuta-based podcast, The Arena, on Friday.

The Arena is a thought-provoking new beacon of conversation and civic engagement in Ogun State.

Speaking on The Arena, the assembly hopeful insisted that the economic hardship, spiraling inflation, and unkept promises under the current administration have alienated voters across the state.

“You are in Nigeria; you see what is happening all over the place,” Adeniran challenged listeners. “Is it the same price you bought petrol a few years back that you buy it now? Is it the same price for a block to build a house? Is it the same exchange rate? Things are plain for everyone to see. The ruling party has nothing left to sell to the people, and they will find it impossible to convince anyone. People are completely tired of them.”

Addressing concerns over money politics and potential vote-buying tactics by the ruling party, A3 dismissed claims that voters could be easily bought off with cash handouts.

Drawing parallels to recent election upsets, he argued that Ogun voters are far wiser than the ruling party gives them credit for and are ready to take financial inducements while voting their conscience at the ballot box.

“Winning the hearts of the people is not about spending; it is about showing them what you are capable of doing and what you have already done,” he stated. “Whether they paste banners everywhere or throw money around, they cannot paste those posters in people’s hearts. Ogun State people will collect their money and still vote against them.”

Adeniran also took direct aim at the performance of the state legislature, labeling the current Ogun State House of Assembly “dormant and inactive.”

Defending his own readiness for office, he revealed that he has already drafted six legislative bills, including a landmark “Accountability and Forensic Accounting Bill” aimed at unlocking over ₦10 billion in unaccessed State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) funds currently tied up due to administrative failure and a lack of proper financial reporting.

Asserting that his legislative bid is a strategic stepping stone toward a future governorship run, Adeniran emphasized his deep grassroots ties, pointing to his long-standing philanthropic work through the Adewale Adeniran Foundation.

As campaigns intensify across the state, A3 declared that the PDP remains fully prepared and united to sweep the APC out of power and deliver true dividends of democracy to the people of Abeokuta South and Ogun State at large.
