Ogun APM Warns Scammers, Impostors Against Creating Confusion Over 2027 Governorship Candidate

ABEOKUTA – Ogun State chapter of the Allied Peoples’ Movement (APM) has warned alleged scammers, impostors and meddlesome individuals against creating confusion over its governorship candidate for the 2027 general election.
The state chairman of the party, Comrade Abayomi Sanyaolu, issued the warning in a press statement made available to journalists in Abeokuta on Monday.
The statement comes following viral campaign posters showing of Biodun Collins Ogundipe as the new APM governorship candidate.
Ogundipe contested the governorship primary under the African Democratic Congress (ADC), but was overturned by a Appeal Court which declared Mr. Jimi Lawal as the authentic ADC governorship candidate in Ogun state.
Reacting to the campaign posters, the APM chairman said the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had released its final list of candidates, officially recognising TPL Rotimi Babajide as the APM governorship candidate in Ogun State.
He urged party members, supporters and the electorate to disregard any contrary claims regarding the party’s candidate, insisting that there was no controversy over the matter.
“INEC has released the final list of candidates, and TPL Rotimi Babajide has been officially announced and confirmed by INEC as the governorship candidate of APM in Ogun State. Please disregard any contrary insinuation from any quarter,” Sanyaolu said.
The party chairman cautioned individuals he described as meddlesome interlopers and impostors to steer clear of the party’s affairs and refrain from actions capable of misleading its supporters and the general public.
He also assured APM supporters and residents of Ogun State that the party remained clear about its choice of candidate ahead of the 2027 governorship election.
Sanyaolu called on eligible voters and party loyalists to support the APM and rally behind Babajide’s governorship ambition.
“I am therefore using this medium to assure Ogun State electorate and our teeming supporters that there is no controversy about our governorship candidate. Feel free to support APM and vote in TPL Rotimi Babajide as the next governor of Ogun State,” he declared.
Meanwhile, Biodun Collins Ogundipe campaign organization has denied any involvement in the widely circulated posters on social media.
The BCO campaign organization said its candidate never produced neither authorised, any individual or group to sponsor any campaign poster under the platform of APM.
BCO said its considered the circulation of the unauthorised material misleading and capable of creating unnecessary confusion among its supporters, political stakeholders and the general public.
“The circulating flyer does not emanate from the BCO Campaign Organisation or any of its authorised representatives.
“No individual or group has been authorised by the Campaign Organisation to issue the said publication on its behalf. Any official announcement concerning Dr. Biodun Collins Ogundipe’s candidacy or electoral participation shall be communicated through duly recognised and authorised channels.
“We urge members of the public, political associates, supporters and media organisations to disregard the flyer and refrain from circulating it.”
Its stated further that, “We call on those responsible for producing and distributing the material to desist from using Dr. Biodun Collins Ogundipe’s name and image in a manner capable of misleading the public.
“The BCO Campaign Organisation wish to inform the general public that Dr. Biodun Collins Ogundipe and the National Leadership of ADC have appealed the ruling of the court of appeal at the Supreme Court.”
