Abeokuta Agogs As ADC Gov’ship Candidate, Otegbeye Flags Off Campaign

ABEOKUTA – Vehicular movement in Abeokuta, the Ogun state capital was disrupted on Wednesday as the governorship candidate of African Democratic Congress (ADC) in the state, Barr. Biyi Otegbeye flagged off his campaign.

Motorists, commuters and Okada riders plying Sapon, Ijemo, Ake, Itoko, Adatan, Isale-Ake and the popular Itoku market were trapped in a traffic logjam as supporters of the Governorship candidate and party loyalists stormed the Ogun state capital in buses.

The Ake palace sport auditorium was filled to the brim, disrupting free flow of pedestrians movement around Ake-Isale Ake axis.

Addressing the mammoth crowd at the campaign ground, the ADC governorship candidate accused the APC administration under governor Dapo Abiodun of taking the backward with anti-masses programmes.

Otegbeye alleged that, the APC government inflated cost of contracts in the state to siphoned the state treasury.

He assured residents of the state to rescue the situation with his cardinal programmes centered on education, women and youths empowerment, Health, Human capital development, infrastructural development among others.

“What were done greatly by past leaders of this state, they have spoil it, but the period is limited. They are also aware and they are already packing their belongings. By God’s grace, it is ADC that will win the election.

“All the sweat and labour of past administrators of this state have been destroyed by the present administration. With me, Ogun state will progress and I’m here to fix all the rot, by God’s grace we will do it appropriately.

“We have plans for the Economic, Women, youths, infrastructure,and for everybody. To ensure that the prosperity of the state is shared equally.”

Also speaking, a former Governor of the state, Senator Ibikunle Amosun said he is pushing for the election of the African Democratic Congress governorship candidate, Barr. Biyi Otegbeye, as governor in March this year was to arrest the current drift of Ogun State on the watch of governor Dapo Abiodun.

Amosun noted that the state has derailed from its developmental trajectory, adding that he wants a governor who could continue on the progressive pathway he left behind in 2019.

The Senator debunked claims by Dapo Abiodun led administration that he wasted N27billion naira of taxpayers’ money on botched 15 model schools, saying he spent only N6.9bn on the project.

He explained the highest he spent on a model school was N830m on the school at Kobape, Abeokuta, which was renovated converted to a Tech Hub by Governor Dapo Abiodun’s administration at the cost of N3bn.

Senator Amosun, therefore, tutored the state capital after leaving the campaign ground with a visit to Itoku, Sapon, and Lafenwa markets.

The convoy were cheered by passersby and market women.
