SWAN Congratulates Seyi Johnson On Emergence As Federation President Wheelchair Basketball

ABEOKUTA – Ogun State Chapter of Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) felicitates with Mr. Seyi Johnson on his recent appointment as the President, Wheelchair Basketball in Nigeria.

The Chief Executive Officer of Brussels Sports Management Limited, Seyi Johnson, was on Tuesday, elected as the President of the Wheelchair Basketball Federation of Nigeria.

Nine of the eleven constitutional delegates were present at the Media Centre, MKO Abiola National Stadium, Abuja where the election was held.

Johnson got the mantle after all nine delegates voted in his favour to mount the temple of leadership in the Federation for the next four years.

However, SWAN in a press statement jointly issued in Abeokuta on Wednesday by its Chairman, Hakeem Akintunde and Secretary, Michael-Azeez Ogunsiji said Johnson’s experience under the tutelage of the former Commissioner for Youth and Sports in Ogun State and Managing Director of Nilayo Sports Management Limited, Bukola Olopade earned him his new position.

The association urged the new Wheelchair Basketball president to revive the dwindling sport by soliciting private partnerships to change the face of the game.

The release reads further: “Your success story at the 2022 Ogun Women’s Run organized by your company, Brussels Sports, was a testimony of your doggedness and sports management acumen to excel in this new task.

“While accepting our heartfelt congratulations, continue to keep the flag flying as the true ambassador of Ogun state.”

Seyi Johnson replaces former President, General Emico Eruwa.

It would be recalled that Olopade was at a time the President of the Wheelchair Basketball Federation of Nigeria.

Working with NSML, Seyi Johnson has consistently worked as project manager on the prestigious Access Bank Lagos City Marathon, as well as other sports events across Nigeria.

His personal company, Brussels Sports, was also floated in 2022 also for Road Race and the first competition organized by the company was the Ogun Women’s Run.
