UMUAHIA – Preparations for the much awaited Aba Sports Club 1926 Golf Section Captain/Lady Captain’s Inaugural Golf Tournament in Aba, Abia State have fully commenced.
The tournament has been scheduled to tee-off on March 29th, 2025 at the golf section, Aba with over 180 amateur golfers across Nigeria expected to feature as well as invited professional golfers.
The inaugural event packaged by the Local Organising Committee (LOC) under the Chairmanship of Chief Greg Esotu will feature Captains and Lady Captains from golf clubs in the South-South and South-East States specially invited and to participate in the event.
Furthermore, golfers in various categories such as men’s, ladies veterans and guests will take part while the first 20 female golfers will be given free accommodation for the duration of the tournament.
Similarly, funds raised through this tournament will be used primarily to meet Exco budget for the year exceeding one hundred and seventy million naira towards equipment purchase/upgrade and course maintenance.
It could be recalled that the golf section Captain, Mr. Collins Ekwueme and Lady Captain, Chief Mrs. Comfort Jerry Kalu assumed office in May 2024, and to pilot the affairs till 2026.
Also, they have made tremendous development and innovation in the golf section. Within a few months in office, its course fairways and greens have been greatly improved with full GPS coordinates activated.
Meanwhile, the official tee-off for the tournament is 6:30am till 10am while closing ceremony and presentation of prizes will hold from 3pm.
Online registration is ongoing as interested golfers pay registration fees of N20,000 into the Aba Sports Club Golf Tournament account and submit their registration details using the online registration link.
