
ABEOKUTA – The prestigious Abeokuta Golf Club, has elected new officials to lead the club in 2026.
In an election, held at the weekend during the Annual General Meeting, saw Engr. Umar Olaseni Bakare emerged as the new Captain, alongside other elected officials, including Vice Captain, Pastor Adediran Oladele, General Secretary, Dr. Qudus Yusuff, and Treasurer, Mr. Emmanuel Egbetade.
Other elected members are; Asst. Gen. Secretary, Dr. Olatunji Apeleyin, Public Relation Officer, Mr. Eniola Egbekunle, Competition Secretary, Mr. Tolulope Olugbemi, House Officer, Pro Mubasiru Sanusi, and Course Officer, Pro Nojeem Sofela.

In his acceptance speech, the new club captain, Engr. Bakare, a retired Director at the Federal Ministry of Works, expressed gratitude to God and members for the trust and support.
He assured members that his team would work tirelessly to make Abeokuta Golf Club a golfer’s destination of choice.
He also reaffirmed his commitment to be a listening and approachable leader to ensure the best for the benefit and development of the club.
Notable figures in attendance included High Chief Olusoji Adefolu, Chairman Ogun State Golf Association, and Distinguished Senator Salis Shuaib, representing Ogun Central Senatorial District, Hon. Moruf Afolabi Afuape, member representing Abeokuta South Federal Constituency, House of Representative
The event concluded with celebration and merriment, marking a new chapter in the club’s history.
In the same vein, seven prominent members of the club have been appointed as Board of Trustees and were ratified by the general assembly at the AGM.
The new BoT members are; Osi Egba, Chief Olabode Mustapha, Chief (Mrs) Ruth Luwoye, Alhaji Luqmon Buhari, Dr Ayodele Aderinwale, Engr Ola Sobande, Hon. Justice Mobolaji Ojo and Engr Oladimeji Isiaka.
Among the notable figures in attendance are High Chief Olusoji Adefolu – Chairman Ogun State Golf Association, Osi Egba Olabode Mustapha, Distinguished Senator Salis Shuaib – the Senator representing Ogun Central Senatorial District, Hon Afolabi Afuape – A member of Federal House of Representatives, Hon. Jagunmolu Akande Omoniyi – Honorable Commissioner for Housing among others.
