Abiodun, APC Jittery Over PDP Request To Inspect Electoral Materials – Akinloye

ABEOKUTA – The PDP Publicity Secretary in Ogun state, Asiwaju Bankole Akinloye has declared that, the All Progressives Congress (APC) and its governorship candidate, Prince Dapo Abiodun are jittery over order granted by the Election Petition Tribunal for PDP to inspect the electoral materials for the March 18 governorship election.

According to Akinloye, the APC and governor Abiodun have been running from one corner of the country to another searching desperately for means to cover all the electoral frauds they allegedly perpetrated with the paraphernalia of office of the governor.

Recall that, the Ogun State Chapter of All Progressives Congress (APC) has called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to “provide maximum security for its staff and the election materials in its possession, especially all the ballot papers pertaining to the just concluded general elections” in the state.

The party in a statement issued in Abeokuta on Sunday, and signed by the State Publicity Secretary of APC, Tunde Oladunjoye said “it has become pertinent to demand for the provision of watertight security for INEC offices across the state, its officers and election materials.”

Oladunjoye had maintained that, the last week’s protest by the PDP governorship candidate, Oladipupo Adebutu to the State’s INEC headquarters was to tamper with the election materials, especially the ballot papers in the possession of INEC.

Oladunjoye alleged that, Hon Adebutu not only took thugs to INEC to ‘submit a letter’ but also insisted that officers of INEC must come out to address his hired crowd and respond to the so-called letter?

He said, if not for the steadfastness, professionalism and civility of the joint security men on guard, Hon. Adebutu and his hirelings would have overrun the INEC headquarters and this, most probably, would have led to loss of lives and destruction of property, including election materials.

But in a swift reaction, the PDP scribe said, “Since the popular wish of the citizens and residents of Ogun State was violently manipulated on Saturday 18th of March, Prince Dapo Abiodun, the chief beneficiary of the stolen mandate has been junketting from one corner of the country to another searching desperately for means of covering all the electoral frauds he perpetrated with the paraphernalia of office of the governor.

“It is crystal clear that the order granted by the Tribunal for our party to inspect electoral materials is already making the APC jittery as many of their electoral frauds in the March 18 election are about to be uncovered.

“From the litany of hopelessness released yesterday, it is manifest that Oladunjoye and APC are being intentionally clever by half. The people are aware of the violent tendencies of the elements in the APC who have notorious reputation for ballot box snatching and forms of brigandage.

“It is important to remind Oladunjoye that the peaceful protest led by the gubernatorial candidate of our great party, Hon. Dr. Oladipupo Adebutu to the INEC offfice was peopled with genuine and loyal partymen just from Abeokuta North and South Local Governments. It is only APC that indulge in the deceitful habit of renting crowd; we have the numbers, we enjoy the peoples’ support and that explains the reason why APC would continue to suffer unending electoral defeat.

“In another few days, details of all electoral frauds of the APC are being collated and same shall be made available to necessary authorities, including public domain for review.

“Again, PDP, as a law abiding and peaceful organization, we enjoin members of the public to remain calm and not be disturbed by diversionary cry of APC and its gang of alarmists. No form of tyranny would stand in front of a determined people.”

When contacted for his reaction, the APC publicity Secretary in the state, Tunde Oladunjoye declined comment.
