ABEOKUTA – A prominent US-based Nigerian real estate investor, Kunle Ilori-Diamond has urged the Nigeria Acting Inspector General of Police, Tunji Disu to instill discipline in the police command and respect for human rights.
Ilori-Diamond, in written a heartfelt letter to Acting Inspector-General of Police, Tunji Disu, praised his leadership and urging him to continue pushing for police reform.
In the letter, Ilori-Diamond, founder of Wardiere Oakmount Developments and owner of Jacob & Co Hospitality, highlighted Disu’s impressive track record, citing his tenure as head of the Rapid Response Squad in Lagos and the Intelligence Response Team, where he demonstrated exceptional leadership and a commitment to professionalism.
Ilori-Diamond noted that Disu’s emphasis on discipline, accountability, and zero tolerance for corruption resonates deeply with Nigerians, and expresses confidence that he would continue to drive meaningful reform in the Nigeria Police Force.
“Nigeria needs law enforcement that commands respect not by fear, but by credibility,” Ilori-Diamond writes. “It needs a police force that the ordinary trader in Oje Market, the entrepreneur in Abuja, and the investors abroad can trust.
“When you headed the Intelligence Response Team, you demonstrated that policing is not brute force; it is intelligence, precision, and strategy.
“The dismantling of criminal networks, the recovery of stolen assets, the coordinated operations that restored calm in volatile moments; these were not mere operational wins. They were statements of competence. In Rivers State and later in the Federal Capital Territory, you stood where pressure was intense and expectations unforgiving.
“Yet you maintained composure. That calm strength is leadership. What moves me most, however, is your consistent emphasis on professionalism, accountability, and zero tolerance for corruption.
“Reforming an institution from within requires courage that is often unseen and sacrifices that are rarely applauded. It requires a leader who understands that legacy is more important than
applause.
“Your appointment symbolizes possibility. For many of us in the private sector who are building institutions; whether in real estate, hospitality, or finance; we understand what it means to build systems, not just structures. We understand that culture is everything. And that is why your focus on discipline and human rights resonates deeply.
“As a Yoruba man, I grew up hearing that “ọ̀nà kan ò wọ̀ ọjà” – there are many paths to the marketplace. But there is only one path to honor, integrity. You have walked that path consistently.
“Nigeria needs institutional strength. It needs law enforcement that commands respect not by fear, but by credibility. It needs a police force that the ordinary trader in Oje Market, the entrepreneur in Abuja, and the investors abroad can trust. I believe you understand this responsibility beyond the title.
