OSOGBO – Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, yesterday, said his administration would continue to build technology-driven, transparent and inclusive government, thus creating an enabling atmosphere for upcoming tech businesses and digital entrepreneurs.
He gave the promise during the maiden edition of Osun Tech Festival, themed “Home Grown Telent, Global Impact,” in Osogbo.
Adeleke, who noted that Osun State was like an analogue establishment with no tech policy and digital economy, said that since November 2022, his government had made technology its foundation with technology innovation policies alongside domestication of the Nigeria Start Up Act.
Earlier, the state’s for Innovation, Science, Technology and Digital Economy, Maruf Dele Ayofe, described the festival as a bold statement that Osun believes in its people, especially our youths, innovators, and digital creators.
IN another development, the governor has reduced public servants’ work hours for the Ramadan and Lent period.
Adeleke, while announcing the approval, stated that the adjustment was intended to support workers during the fasting season.
He further explained that the new schedule will take effect from Thursday, February 19, 2026, saying that workers will now close for work by 2:00 p.m. from Mondays to Thursdays and 1:00 p.m. on Fridays throughout the fasting period.
The directive was contained in a circular issued by the Office of the Head of Service, Ayanleye Aina, yesterday.
However, the Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has dismissed claims that the Presidency pressured Adeleke to defect to the party, describing the allegation as illogical and contrived.
In a statement by Kola Olabisi, the Osun APC Director of Media and Information, yesterday, the party faulted comments attributed to former Governor Olagunsoye Oyinlola, who had alleged that Adeleke confided in him about facing intense pressure to join the APC.
The APC said the position of Adeleke, as relayed by Oyinlola, was at variance with the witnessed development in the party, where all the entreaties of the incumbent governor to defect to our party met a brick wall.
It, therefore, urged the public to disregard the claim, describing it as unfounded and spurious, while also rejecting suggestions that the party was responsible for the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) challenges in Osun State and across the country.
