ABEOKUTA – The staff and members of Allstars Football Association, Abeokuta, has described the passing of former Housing Corporation player, Sunday Odedina, as colossal loss to the football fraternity in Ogun state.
According to the Public Relations Officer of the Allstars Asero, Abeokuta, Akeem Akintunde, Coach Sunday was the oldest member of the association and died at the age of 84.
Akintunde noted that the diminutive tackling defender during his playing days in the 1970s played in the IFA league with Housing Corporation in Ibadan along Dr. Patrick Odegbami, MON, in the old western region.
He further disclosed that, in 1976 after the creation of Ogun state, late Sunday Odedina moved to Abeokuta and continued playing for Housing Corporation in Ogun state.
“After the creation of Ogun State in 1976, from western region, he moved to Abeokuta and continued playing for Housing Corporation in Ogun State.
“After his football playing career, he ventured into printing. He was a rugged and hard tackling defender in his playing day. He plays from either position of left wing back or right wing back. Until his death, he was a member of the coaching crew of All Stars Asero football Association, a position he held tenaciously before he became too weak to move out. He hails from Abeokuta.
“Coach Sunday would surely be missed by the football family in Abeokuta. He was a fortright and highly disciplined personality,” Akintunde averred
