The Abuja 22 Reunion which shall be spiced with various entertaining and sporting
activities is scheduled to culminate in a gala night to hold late in the evening of Saturday
the 12th of November 2022.
An important highlight of the annual general meeting is the ushering in of a new executive
committee to take over from the outgoing executive led by Mr. Kayode Ayilara, a Deputy
Commissioner of Police.
Rotalum Fashina said, “In view of the global spread of Rotalum, the election of the new executive is conducted electronically online and preceded by a series of webinar like debates in which candidates formally presented themselves and their programmes to the members.
“The District Governor, Rotary International District 9125, Dr. Goddy Nnadi Ph.D and
the Executive Governor of Plateau State, Rt. Hon. Barr Simon Lalong and Chief Abiodun Odusanwo, President of ITPN are expected to grace the Rotalum Gala Night.
“Although Rotalum was founded in the year 2012 and incorporated in the year 2019, the members have been friends for not less than thirty-five to forty years. The birth of
Rotalum is a reunion of old-time friends from our Rotaract years.
“The name “Rotalum” (Rotaract Alumni) emanated from the fact that the old-time friends who came together to found Rotalum were, in the 1980s, members of various Rotaract Clubs in various parts of Nigeria.
“The members (then known as “Rotaractors”) were then young ladies and gentlemen in their twenties engaged in rendering selfless service to humanity.
“The various Rotaract Clubs were the youth wings of Rotary International.
“As these former Rotaractors (now Rotalum members) are gradually joining the age of
senior citizens, the various mutually supportive socio-cultural and socio-economic
programmes (such as life insurance policies, joint business ventures, etc.) put together by Rotalum are indeed to ensure that Rotalum members continue to enjoy life, even without abandoning their selfless service to humanity.”
