ABEOKUTA – Ogun State branch of Association of Water-Well Drilling Rig Owners and Practitioners (AWDROP) has elected Oluwafemi Gbolahan as their new Chairman alongside other officers.
The inauguration of the new executive members, observed by national officers and state chairmen, was the highlight of the Association’s 10th Year Anniversary held on Thursday, 27th of July, 2023 in Abeokuta, the state capital.
Other elected officers were Samuel Hezekiah (Auditor), Kehinde Akiode (Chief Whip), Ramon Shittu (Welfare Officer), Olawale Omosanya (PRO),:Ayodeji Ashiru (Financial Secretary), Oluwaseun Sobulo (Assistant Secretary), Taiwo Akiode (Secretary), and Sesan Babatunde (Vice Chairman).
Earlier, the President, Mr Mike Ale commended members in Ogun State for a befitting Anniversary accorded the Association in Nigeria.
The President who was represented by Engr Ayo Opeyemi, urged AWDROP members across the twenty-seven (27) states in the country to continue flying the flag of AWDROP in their varied business endeavors.
Among the national officers presented were Mr Mike Ale ( President), Vice President Engr Ayo Opeyemi, Alhaji Oluwatoyin Yusuph (Deputy President South West), Mr Adeyemi Yomi (National Secretary), Dr. Awalu Yola (North West Deputy President).
Meanwhile, the guest speaker at the anniversary, a professor of Geophysics, ‘Biodun Badmus (Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta), charged members of Water-Well Drilling Rig Owners and Practitioners (AWDROP) Association to continue to adhere to the ethics of the profession and be wary of quacks who usually create unnecessary geological problems.
The Don urged the practitioners to be doing their job in a way that can make them offer warranty to customers.
He cited four stages: Geophysical survey (Integrated Geophysics Method) Correlation of Geophysics report with the drilling exercise, using quality installation accessories and adequate casing, to be duly followed for a successful borehole drilling business.
He, however, allayed the fears of impending earthquake as a result of many boreholes in the country.
“In view of available data, drilling more boreholes can not cause earthquake. There wouldn’t be tremor”, says Prof Badmus.
