ABEOKUTA – The Ogun State chapter of The Muslim Congress (TMC) received the news of the passing of Prince Abdul-Jabar Bola Ajibola with mixed feelings going by his exceptional contributions to the progress of Islam, development of Nigeria, and making the world peaceful.
The group in a statement issued in Abeokuta on Monday by its Wali, Dr. AbdulRazaq Ogunmoye said the Muslim community has lost one of its pillars of support, calling on all Muslim faithful to ensure the sustainability of the late Bola Ajibola legacy.
Dr. Ogunmoye who eulogized his selfless humanitarian deeds to the growth of Islam through his countless Sadaqat Jariya, noted that his contributions to spiritual and moral development in peoples lives through the establishment of the first Islamic University in Nigeria and Islamic Mission for Africa (IMA) would continue to be his endless reward till the day of reckoning.
“We are excited that he left this world with countless Sadaqat Jariya that will continue to be an endless reward for him till the Day of reckoning. As a pioneer of the first Islamic University in Nigeria, all the values the establishment of such Universities are adding to Muslim community in Nigeria and across the world will continue to be added to his good deeds.
“The impact of the Islamic Mission for Africa (IMA) which he established is another testimony of his contributions to the spiritual and moral development of peoples lives.
“The Muslim Community has really lost a pillar of its support, unity, and progress. It will be a great task for us to come close to his unique contributions and sustain his legacy. We acknowledged his consistent financial, moral and material supports to the success recorded by the TMC over the years.
“We are therefore deeply saddened by the news of the passing of Prince Bola Ajibola, a prominent Nigerian lawyer, jurist, and statesman who contributed immensely to the growth and development of Nigeria and the Muslim community in the country.
“As an Islamic organization based in Ogun State, we join the rest of the nation in mourning the death of this illustrious son of Nigeria. Prince Bola Ajibola was a man of great wisdom, integrity, and vision. He was a respected figure in the legal profession and a beacon of hope for many Muslims in Nigeria.
“We recognize Prince Bola Ajibola’s outstanding contributions to the legal profession, both nationally and internationally. He was the first African to be elected as the President of the International Court of Justice and also served as the Attorney General and Minister of Justice of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. His passion for justice and the rule of law was evident in the various roles he played throughout his career.
“Prince Bola Ajibola was also a devout Muslim who dedicated much of his life to the service of Allah and the Muslim community in Nigeria. He was a strong advocate for the promotion of Islamic values and ethics, and his life serves as an inspiration to many Muslims in the country.”
