ABEOKUTA – A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ogun state, Otunba Segun Showunmi has extolled the virtue of His Royal Majesty, Oba Sikiru Adetona, the Awujale of Ijebuland on the occasion of his 89th birthday.
Showunmi in a birthday message issued in Abeokuta on Wednesday, described the monarch as a traditional ruler with candour, carriage, class and general imperial.
The outspoken politician added that, Awujale’s respect for tradition has earned him the respect of a greater number of Yorubas.
He said, “You are the monarch that has the respect of a greater number of Yorubas, your carriage, candour, class and general imperial aura are why we all celebrate you.
“Happy birthday Ogbagba Agbaotemole, anikinlaya saogun. Oba sikiru Adetona, the Awujale of Ijebu land, the paramount ruler of the Ijebu kingdom, Omo Olu-Iwa, thank you for what you keep doing.
“Today you added another milestone with the commissioning of the Institute for Governance Studies Building Complex at Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago-Iwoye, in commemoration of your 89th birthday on Wednesday 10th May 2023.
“We honour and respect you and affirm that we are proud of you sir. Kabiyesi o.”
