Senator Plang Distributes 8,000 Assorted Trees To Schools, Churches, Groups In Plateau Central
JOS – Senator Diket Plang, representing Plateau Central Senatorial District at the National Assembly has distributed eight thousand (800,000) assorted trees to be planted in schools, churches and Mosques of central zone of Plateau State.
Senator Plang while making the distribution at Pankshin LGA to the beneficiaries,said there was two propelling issues that stimulated him towards the environment.of which one is conservation.
According to him, the way life was during the time he was in the village is quite different from what is now with nature, the animals and the availability of natural water.
He said as a scientist,he was aware of what is called plants especially in the purification of air ” we breathe in to our body system and the carbon monoxide we breathe out” saying there is need to purify what we take in because of combustion of the hydrocarbon.
He added that God in his own infinite mercy use plants to filter the air people breath inside the body,adding that the biological importance of trees Can not be misplaced saying trees produces fruits,shelter and it is medicinal.
“Trees have protective variables that could bring about wind breaks that would protect our Institutions of learnings”
Senator Plang said his choice of schools and places of worship to distribute trees was because they were organized places, especially schools where they have knowledge about plants.
He urged schools in 5 local government areas of central Senatorial district of Plateau state to construct school gardens to learn how to grow and protect plants.
He added that if his constituents could conserve the environment, they can conserve trees that could go extinct.saying if trees can be kept it could be used for research.
He urged Communities to put in place forest guards so that people could not just begin to burn trees that are in their communities.
He also urged his Constituents to plant trees at the back of their houses to serve as shelters or as providers of fruits that may end up as medicinal for the families.
Senator Plang urged schools in his zone to re- conscientious their people on the importance of trees, saying that out of the 8,000 trees he has just distributed even if it was 2,000 or more that survived, his hands would be be up in praise.
He wondered why people believe in cutting down trees in communities but don’t believe in planting them.
Earlier, Senator Plang distributed 150 bags of fertilizer to internally displaced persons in Mangu LGA of his state.
