Daramola Dynasty Foundation Lights Up 27th Annual Sports Day of the Blind In Yaba
ABEOKUTA – It was a spectacle of resilience, unity, and unstoppable spirit as the 27th Annual Sports Day of the Blind unfolded on May 15, 2025, at the Yaba College of Technology Sports Centre in Lagos.
The event, organized by the Federal Nigeria Society for the Blind (FNSB) and powered by the Daramola Dynasty Foundation, left a lasting impression with its theme: “Champions of Inclusion.”
The event served as a bold reminder that ability is not limited by disability, offering a stage where courage, competitiveness, and community took centre stage in the most empowering fashion.
A celebration of spirit and strength
From the moment the opening March Past began, the energy at YABATECH was electric. Participants, many of whom are visually impaired trainees of the FNSB, embraced the challenge with enthusiasm, competing in events such as the Tug of War, Track Races, and other adapted sports activities designed to showcase their tenacity and skill.
Spectators and supporters roared in excitement as each event unfolded, creating an inclusive environment that celebrated ability, not limitation.
Football breaks barriers
One of the most anticipated moments of the day was the exhibition football match between players from the Daramola Football Academy, who travelled from Isara Remo in Ogun State to be part of the inclusive festivities.
The game delivered on all fronts, ending in a thrilling draw that underscored the message of unity and shared passion. The young players impressed with their flair and teamwork, earning loud applause from the stands.
Daramola Dynasty Foundation: Driving change through inclusion
Founder of the Daramola Dynasty Foundation, Engr. Olanrewaju Daramola, was present at the event and used the occasion to emphasize the Foundation’s commitment to inclusive development through sports.
“This goes beyond the sporting activities,” Engr. Daramola said during his address.
“It’s about community, visibility, and the power of believing in every individual’s potential.”
His presence was more than symbolic; it was a reassurance of the Foundation’s sustained investment in programmes that build confidence, provide opportunity, and empower people living with disabilities.
