Dr. Jumoke Soyemi: Pioneering Innovation At Federal Polytechnic, Ilaro

The visionary leader Dr. Jumoke Soyemi currently serves as Director of Centre for Communication and Information Technology CICT at Federal Polytechnic Ilaro while pushing technological innovation across the institution.

Through her leadership, she has successfully deployed multiple transformative software solutions that have made pioneering changes to academic and administrative operations throughout the school.

Dr. Soyemi’s tenure at the Centre has seen the development of cutting-edge software systems together with her team.

Some of the notable solutions developed for the institution include but are not limited to e-voting, Computer-based test software, Biometric software, eRegistry, eLibrary, QR Code Certificate generation application, Automated CGPA calculator and Student Handbook among others.

The implemented solutions have simplified several activities within the Institution streamlining administrative processes, improving student engagement, and optimizing academic delivery as well as substantially optimizing operational performance and simultaneously creating improved educational experiences for students and faculty members.

The positioning of the Federal Polytechnic Ilaro among the committee of Polytechnics has a lot to do with the inputs from the CICT headed by Dr. Soyemi.

Before her role as Director of CICT, Dr. Soyemi served as the Head of the Computer Science Department at the same institution, where she made lasting contributions to the development of the department and curriculum.

Under her leadership, the department witnessed growth, development, and research output. Dr. Soyemi also focused on bridging the gap between academic learning and industry needs, ensuring that students were equipped with the skills and knowledge to thrive in the fast-evolving tech industry by introducing local content to the departmental curriculum.

As the Director of CICT, Dr. Soyemi continues to lead the charge in bringing digital transformation to the institution, empowering students and faculty to harness the power of technology for academic success.

Her contributions to the polytechnic’s growth and her dedication to fostering innovation have firmly established her as a key player in Nigeria’s educational and technological landscape.

She is a seasoned scholar of repute with more than fifty papers published in high-impact journals and more than forty-five papers presented at both local and international conferences. In addition, there are notable textbooks written by her or co-authored with other researchers as a contribution to advancing knowledge.
