ABEOKUTA – A political group in Ogun State, known as the Yayi Patriots Movement, has advised current and aspiring leaders in the state to emulate the selfless leadership qualities of Senator Olamilekan Adeola (Yayi), whom it described as a politician committed to public service rather than personal wealth accumulation.
The group, which was set up to canvass and support the political ambition of Senator Adeola ahead of the 2027 governorship election in Ogun State, said the senator’s activities across the state have positively impacted communities by providing hope for the less privileged and relief for residents facing hardship, particularly through the provision of modern amenities.
The movement was officially unveiled on Sunday by its founding members.
Speaking during the unveiling, the group’s Interim Coordinator, Sonala Tobiloba, told journalists that Senator Olamilekan Solomon Adeola has built an impressive track record throughout his political career, describing him as a leader worthy of emulation who has the capacity to positively transform Ogun State.
According to him, the Yayi Patriots Movement cuts across all age groups and includes all citizens of Ogun State who are eligible to vote under the law.
He explained that the objective of the movement is to promote a better future for the state by mobilising support for Senator Yayi’s governorship bid in 2027, while calling on interested members of the public to join the movement.
Mr. Sonala also commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for what he described as ongoing economic restructuring initiatives, including the removal of fuel subsidy, which he said has helped prevent the country from sinking deeper into debt, encouraged competition among petroleum marketers, and contributed to efforts at reducing fuel prices.
He also praised the President’s efforts at tackling insecurity through strategic collaborations.
He added that Senator Yayi, whom he described as a political protégé of President Tinubu, has proven himself capable of leading Ogun State to greater development and prosperity.
The Interim Coordinator further assured members of the movement that they would not be neglected during or after the successful emergence of Senator Yayi, noting that plans are already in place to ensure inclusiveness.
He stressed that the group’s support for the senator is driven by genuine commitment rather than financial inducement, while assuring that due recognition would be accorded after success.
He concluded by urging the people of Ogun State to wholeheartedly support Senator Olamilekan Adeola, expressing confidence that such support would usher in improved living conditions and sustainable development across the state.
