ABEOKUTA- The Eselu of Iselu Kingdom, His Royal Majesty Oba (Dr.) Akintunde Akinyemi, has appreciated President Bola Tinubu for approving the conversion of the Federal Polytechnic, Ilaro into the Federal University of Technology, Ilaro (FUTI).

In an open appreciation letter, the revered monarch described the development as a monumental milestone that will revolutionize the educational landscape of Yewa Land and significantly enhance access to technological education in Ogun State.

“This landmark upgrade will provide our youth with access to cutting-edge technology and innovative education, empowering them to drive progress and development in our division, i.e Ogun State. All well-meaning sons and daughters of Yewa Land, including my humble self appreciate Your Excellency’s tireless efforts to promote education and human capital development in Nigeria”.

Oba Akinyemi applauded the visionary leadership of President Tinubu and acknowledged the role played by Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, whose persistent advocacy over the last decade was instrumental to the establishment of the university.

He also commended the Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, CON, for his continued infrastructural and political development in Yewa Land, particularly his efforts in facilitating Senator Adeola’s return to his ancestral roots in Ogun State.

The monarch noted that since Senator Adeola assumed office as Senator representing Ogun West in 2023, the region has witnessed remarkable growth and representation at the national level.

The Eselu expressed gratitude to the President of the Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio for announcing the presidential approval during plenary, and to other distinguished Senators for their support.

The Monarch also congratulated the Paramount Ruler of Yewaland, HRM Oba Kehinde Gbadewole Olugbenle on the siting of the new university in his domain.

He therefore urged all Ogun West politicians to set aside personal ambitions and unite in support of Senator Adeola and Governor Abiodun, stressing that the collective progress of the region should be paramount.

“I want to implore all Ogun West politicians to rally round Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola (Yaayi) and our dear Governor and shun politics of witch-hunting and selfishness. Everybody’s ambition should be secondary to the collective interest of Ogun West”.
