Ifo Constituents Protest, Kick Against Ibrahim Isiaka’s Return As House of Rep Member
ABEOKUTA – A coalition of constituents under the banner of the Ifo Lokan 2027 MHR Movement has rejected the fourth term bid of a serving House of Representatives member for Ifo/Ewekoro Federal Constituency in Ogun State, Hon Ibrahim Isiaka, declaring that “the time has come for fairness, equity, and justice to prevail.”
The group’s spokesman, Hon. Femi Akala, said this on Tuesday at the All Progressives Congress (APC) secretariat in Abeokuta, where he led hundreds of the constituents to submit a petition to the party’s leadership.
The petition addressed to the Ogun State Chairman of the APC, Yemi Sanusi, was received by Segun Bankole, Administrative secretary of the party.
The movement made its position clear on zoning, insisting that “the 2027 Member of the House of Representatives seat for the Ifo/Ewekoro Federal Constituency be zoned to Ifo Local Government.”
The members rejected any extension of the incumbent’s stay, while arguing that “such a move would contradict the principles of inclusion, equity, and justice which our great party upholds.”
They emphasized that their agitation was not confrontational, but a demand that fairness and inclusiveness should guide the party’s decisions.
Providing historical context, the group said, “Since 1999, Ewekoro Local Government has held the seat for sixteen years through Hon. Bamidele Obadina (2007–2011) and Hon. Ibrahim Isiaka (2015–2027), while Ifo Local Government has represented the constituency for twelve years through Hon. Abayomi Collins (1999–2007) and Hon. Adekunle Adeyemi (2011–2015). Given Ifo’s larger voter population, greater number of polling units, and consistent electoral support for the party, many loyal members believe that the 2027 APC House of Representatives ticket should rightly be zoned to Ifo Local Government.”
They added that “this imbalance underscores the need for a fair rotational arrangement between the two Local Governments.”
Citing party guidelines, the group declared, “Our appeal aligns with Article 20 of the APC Constitution, which emphasizes fairness, equity, and the distribution of opportunities within the party structure.”
They warned against ignoring the call for power shift.
Akala said “Zoning the seat to Ifo would not diminish the partnership between the two Local Governments; rather, it would strengthen trust, reinforce party unity, and sustain long-term cohesion within the constituency.
“We submit this appeal with the utmost respect, mindful of your wisdom and leadership. The voices rising from Ifo are not voices of protest but voices of hope hope that the party’s long-standing principles of fairness and inclusiveness will guide its decisions as preparations for the 2027 elections progress.
“Once again, we congratulate you on your re-election and assure you of our continued loyalty and constructive engagement in the service of our great party.”
