ABEOKUTA- Worried by the ongoing demolition and building plans regularisation by government agencies in Ogun state, the Inter Party Advisory Council (IPAC) has called on Governor Dapo Abiodun to direct government agencies under his administration to follow due process in enforcing orders.
IPAC made the appeal on Tuesday after its executive meeting.
IPAC said the request was as a result of the resolution passed after the meeting aimed to prevent the public from perceiving the governor as undermining court processes.
The council’s concern follows recent events that suggest government agencies through their actions are portraying the governor as anti-opposition.
Recall that, the Ogun state Ministry of Urban and Regional Planning last month, pasted demolition notice on the Asoludero Court and Conference Hotels of former governor of Ogun State, Otunba Gbenga Daniel which generated controversies in the state.
Similarly, on Monday, the state Ministry of Finance pastes another notice of enforcement on the property of a top PDP leader in the state, Hon. Ladi Adebutu at Ode Remo, in Remo North Local Government.
These events was viewed as harassment and intimidation of oppositions in the state.
According to IPAC, Governor Abiodun should ensure that government agencies must observe strict adherence to the rule of Law so as not give the general public any perceive impression of Governor Abiodun witch-hunting opposition members and attempting to muzzle them
The council, therefore, call for due process and respect for court orders, which is a crucial step towards maintaining good governance and upholding the rule of law in Ogun State, which the governor represents
