Learn New Craft To Improve Your Financial Stability, MAPOLY Lecturer Advises Old Students
ABEOKUTA – A Senior Lecturer at the Department of Mass Communication, Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, Abeokuta, Ogun state, Dr. Shola Adeosun has advised old students of the department to seek for more craft to improve their financial income.
According to Dr. Adeosun, Nigeria’s economy is bad to rely on only one source of income.
Adeosun disclosed this on Saturday at a reunion party organized by the Convergers of Mass Communication Department of the polytechnic.
The Convergers are 2013 Set of Mass Communication who graduated 11years ago.
He emphasized that one source of income is not good for Nigeria economy, urging the Mass Communication alumni to learn more skills aside from their academic certificates to improve their livelihood.
He commended the 2013 set of the department for finding time to reunite for the first time in 11years.
He described the set as a model worthy to be under-studied by successive Mass Communication Students.
According to Dr. Adeosun, the 2013 set of old students are special breeds because of their zeal to become job creators.
He, therefore, urged them to always look out for one another and ensure regular visits to their department to see areas where they assist the coming generations of Mass communication students.
“Each member of this set are special breeds. You are special breeds because whether there’s government job or not, you attempt for yourself. In fact I see some of you within government circle and at the same hustling for something outside.
“Where in the era where one job is not enough for you to survive, economic situation of this country is telling us that, we should acquire extra skills. This is an opportunity for you to exchange address and contact.
“Your inputs is very important in the department, you need to consistently look out for yourselves and ensure you pay a regular visits to the department.
“There is a new department created to develop our students and old students alike. You need to register as part of the career service centre.
“Your set should be a model because you started specialized writing in broadcasting as a concept. You’re a model because you are special in character and experience.
“One source of income is not good because the Nigeria economy is not good enough, you need to learn more skills to improve your livelihood. Learn new craft to improve your financial stability.
“The need for you to come back to your Alma mater, relate with yourselves build a family with our old school students.”
Earlier, the President, Association of Mass Communication Students (AMACOS), Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, Abeokuta 2013 set, Michael-Azeez Ogunsiji otherwise known as D-PRESS commended the planning committee of the reunion for bringing everyone together since 2013.
Ogunsiji noted that reuniting after 11years was a springboard for success and connecting with new ideas.
The ex-AMACOS President charged participants to be their brother’s keeper and never allow their current financial situation to dissuade them from seeking help from their colleagues.
Highlight of the reunion was presentation of gifts to the keynote Speaker, Dr. Adeosun and election of new executive for the Convergers set.
The newly elected executive led by Bimbo Sobajo as the chairman will serve for the next two years.
Other elected members are: Awojobi Wright (Vice Chairman), Odunayo Oguntade (Secretary), Gbenga Gbadebo (Logistics and Project Coordinator), Akeem Alimi as PRO, Olamide Ajalemo as Welfare Director and Olusegun Soluade as Legal Adviser.
Others are Tega Akiri-Idowu as Treasurer, while Okikiola Azeez as Chief Whip.
