Lisabi Festival Has Attracted Global Recognition – Alake

 

ABEOKUTA – The Alake and Paramount Ruler of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo has disclosed that, the annual Lisabi festival celebration has received global recognition to be classified among the world’s richest festivals.

The Alake stated this on Monday in Abeokuta at a press conference to commemorate the 36th Lisabi Festival Celebration.

According to the Egba paramount ruler, the Lisabi festival is globally acknowledged by the world that every year, the Egbas are honoring their hero who saved them from external invaders.

Oba Gbadebo maintained that, the festival was to showcase the usefulness of the Egba traditions.

Reeling out the programmes lineup for this year’s edition, the monarch said, there shall be quiz competition among secondary schools in Egbaland, football competition, indoor games, drama competition, children social programme, cultural displays, and Awards to be given to distinguished sons and daughters of Egbaland.

According to the royal father, there shall be seminar in honour of the fallen heroes and scholarships shall be given to the best primary and secondary school pupils who stand out in their education.

“Lisabi festival is globally acknowledged that the Egbas have something to do, we are pleased that the Lisabi festival has attracted global attention.

“This year’s festival is to showcase the usefulness of our traditions. The sons and daughters of Egba and friends of Egba, this year celebration is plan to pass message on where applicable.

“As part of activities line up for this year’s event, we have quiz competition, football competition, we have Ayoo, drama competition, children social programme, cultural displays. Award to the distinguish sons and daughters in Egbaland.

“We have seminar to honour the fallen heroes, we have scholarships for our sons and daughters. Finally we have the display of ORO which is in two part, first we allow women to take part in the Oro display, second one will take place in the midnight.”

I Oba Gbadebo, therefore, announced that, the state governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun is expected as the Special Guest of Honour.

Meanwhile, the Chairman, Main Organizing Committee of Lisabi Festival, Chief Rasheed Raji announced the theme for this year’s festival as “Parental Responsibility As A Fanatical Towards The Better Children and Youth Development In Egbaland”.

Chief Raji who is the Ashipa of Egbaland said the committee carefully selected the theme due to moral decadence among the youths.
