Egba Leaders Inspect Wasimi Airport, Taunt Benefits For Yewa, Egba Communities
ABEOKUTA – The Egba Economic Summit (EES) on Monday led a delegation to inspect the abandoned Wasimi Airport project site in Ogun State.
The team, comprising prominent Egba sons including President, Dr. Gbenga Adeoye, Engr. Ola Sobande, and Prince Abiodun Karunwi, aimed to assess the project’s progress and viability.
According to the group, the Wasimi Airport, strategically located near Yewaland, is expected to decongest Lagos’ Ikeja Airport and foster business growth in Egba and Yewaland.
“The nearness of the Airport to Yewaland makes it one of the best projects in Ogun State,” Dr. Adeoye stated.
Adeoye highlighted the airport’s potential to serve as an emergency landing site for Lagos Airport and promote regional development.
Adeoye added that it will drive massive growth in the area, benefiting both Egba and Yewa communities.
Dr. Adeoye emphasized EES commitment to advancing Egba’s development, stating, “The focus of Egba Economic Summit is to ensure the development of Egbaland and Egba people, including dwellers whether of Egba origin or not.”
The team inspected surrounding areas, including Aga Olowo and Onigbedu, to assess road connectivity. EES plans to monitor projects enhancing Egba’s development, including the Idi Aba Ajebo Alapako Express road.
The summit extends festive greetings to Egbas and Ogun State residents, wishing them a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
