NANS Senate President Ratifies Removal Of Ogun JCC Chairman, Four Others Over Eligibility Status

ABEOKUTA – The Senate President of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Usman Adamu has reaffirmed the removal of Ogun NANS Chairman, Comrade Francis Abiola Gabriel and four other executive members in the state over gross violation of constitutional breach.
The Ogun State legislators had on March 31, 2026 announced the removal of Comrade Francis, Comrade Gbohunmi Zinsu (Deputy, Chairman NANS Ogun state JCC), Comrade Ademuwagun Sunday Olalekan ( Vice Chairman, Special Duties), Comrade Adeola Hezekiah (Secretary) and Comrade Amodu Imodola Junaid (Assistant General Secretary) for not qualified for holding elective office in NANS.
The Ogun NANS legislators found the executive culpable for breaching Article 15, Sub-section 2 of NANS constitution.
Reaffirming the position of Ogun NANS legislators, the Senate President, Senator Usman Adamu said the accused Ogun NANS executives were guilty of all allegations.
Adamu in a memo jointly signed by the Deputy Senate President, Aye Thomas and Clerk of the Senate, Amb. Hope Daniel and addressed to the Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun and Commissioner of Police, said after detailed investigation, hearings, and careful legislative review by the Ogun State Senators, the
executives of NANS Ogun JCC were found culpable of grave violations of the
NANS Constitution of Article 15, Sub-section 2 on eligibility to contest, Sub-section 2, which states that a part time student cannot hold elective position in NANS and Article 17, subsection (iii) which stipulates that, “Any aspirant who, following an election to office within NANS, is determined through
formal investigation to have been unqualified at the time of said election shall be forthwith removed from office, and the runner-up shall be immediately sworn in.”
Adamu said, “Article 17, subsection (iii) pertaining to discipline, formally stipulates that,
“Any aspirant who, following an election to office within NANS, is determined through
formal investigation to have been unqualified at the time of said election shall be forthwith removed from office, and the runner-up shall be immediately sworn in.”
“Pursuant to the powers conferred on the NANS Senate, by NANS Constitution, and
having satisfied all requirements of fair hearing and due process, the Senate hereby
RATIFIES and CONFIRMS the IMMEDIATE REMOVAL of the aforementioned
individuals from their respective offices.
“This decision is final and binding. Relevant stakeholders (Ogun State Government,
Head of State agencies and parasatals, general public), security agencies, school
authorities, and the general student populace are hereby advised to take due notice of this development and comply accordingly.
“We affirm the new leadership as contained in the communique, which is in line with the constitutional provisions to ensure continuity of governance within Ogun JCC.
“The Senate remains resolute in upholding discipline, accountability, and the sanctity
of the NANS Constitution without fear or favor.”
