New Dawn As NSE Abeokuta Branch Commissions Solar-Powered System, Acquired 18-Seater Bus

ABEOKUTA – In its dynamic and pragmatic drive, the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) Abeokuta Branch has commissioned a solar-powered system and an 18-seater Ford Transit Bus, marking a significant milestone in its operational capacity and visibility.

The event, attended by distinguished guests, highlighted the branch’s commitment to innovation, sustainability, and engineering excellence.

In his welcome address, the Chairman, NSE Abeokuta branch, Engr. Olumayowa Idowu said the project will significantly enhance the operational capacity and visibility of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE), Abeokuta Branch.

According to Engr. Idowu, these projects symbolise innovation, progress, partnership, and shared commitment to strengtening engineering excellence in Ogun state.

The NSE Chairman commended the donor of the solar powered inverter system, Dr. Aderemi Rasheed Kilaso and Engr. Oludayo Aderinwale, whose donation of the 18-seater Ford Transit Bus would enhance the branch’s logistics, mobility, visibility, and participation at national and state engineering programmes.

Engr. Idowu emphasized that the provision of the solar powered Inverter system became necessary to cushion the challenges of interrupted power supply at the branch secretariat.

He maintained that, the solar project was executed by an indigenous engineering company, which reinforces his belief in Nigerian engineers and promotes local content development.

“This vehicle provides improved mobility for branch activities, greater participation in national programmes, enhanced capacity for outreach, advocacy, and community service, and a stronger identity and visibility for NSE Abeokuta branch.

“The 6000W Solar-Powered Inverter System guarantees, a reliable 24/7 power supply to our secretariat, reduced running cost, sustainable energy usage in line with global engineering best practices and a more conducive working environment for our members and staff.

“Both projects significantly elevate the operational efficiency, sustainability, and professional stature of our branch. Initiatives like this, if replicated in major offices across Ogun State, will significantly reduce dependence on diesel generators, especially in areas where power outages are frequent.

“They will also help cut operating costs for households and businesses, leading to longterm savings on fuel consumption and electricity tariffs. Furthermore, these initiatives will lower emissions and local pollution while enabling productive activities and supporting local economic growth.

“As a branch, we remain firmly committed to strengthening the engineering family, expanding professional development opportunities, supporting government infrastructure and development initiatives, promoting innovation,
