ABEOKUTA – Following the recent outcry of the stagnated HND holders who were recruited into Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps in the year 2012, no fewer than seven stagnated holders of Higher National Diploma Certificates and 43 combat instructors of the Civil Defence College of Security Management in Abeokuta were decorated on Thursday with new ranks by the Provost of the college, Assistant Commandant General Nwaomelebele Rose.
ACG Nwaomelebele in his address at the event commended the efforts, endurance, and doggedness of the college Officers especially those who have spent more than expected years on a rank, describing such an experience as a too bitter one for someone’s mouth to swallow.
The Provost, therefore, urged the newly promoted Officers to dust off the bad experience and live up to the task attached to their new ranks.
She pointed out that discharging of duties in honesty, patriotically and in fairness without division of loyalty remains sacrosanct.
According to ACG Nwaomelebele, promotion in the service is worth celebrating but it always comes with additional responsibilities, saying “as you’re celebrating your new ranks; don’t jettison the attached responsibilities.”
She continued, “It is mostly sad to be stuck on a rank beyond necessary but I’m mostly glad because your progression came when I’m here and it’s on that note I’m confidently saying that affliction will never rise again. Stagnation is over and henceforth; it shall be promotion upon promotion” the college Provost said.
While appreciating the new wave of transformation in the interior ministry under the auspices of Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo which was also extended to the Commandant General of NSCDC; Dr. Ahmed Audi, ACG Nwaomelebele Rose described the promotion as a timely intervention that will bring succour to majority home and especially families of the just promoted officers.
