Ogun 2027: Those Pushing For Yewa Agenda Without Awori Interest Are Enemies Of Ogun West – Akinosi

ABEOKUTA- A member, representing Ado-Odo Ota Federal Constituency at the House of Representatives, Hon. Tunji Akinosi has faulted the call for a Yewa governorship agenda without consideration of Awori as interested party.

Hon. Akinosi called for caution against the impression that the Awori people of Ogun west have no ambition to become governor in 2027.

Akinosi made this statement while speaking as a guest at YEWA Day 2024 held in London.

While alluding to the imperative of Ogun West producing its first governor since Ogun State creation in 1976, he called for a genuine and inclusive process in identifying and delivering such a person.

The federal legislator gave a historical trajectory of the plagued Ogun West governorship agenda starting from 2011, saying it will amount to repeated failure if the approach is not reviewed.

Hon. Akinosi highlighted how the divisive politics among the Yewas had botched the plan that would have easily been achieved a long time.

He, therefore, warned that towing the same path ahead of 2027, no matter what is invested, would not deliver a different result.

The lawmaker noted that, if the Yewas are genuinely concerned about the Ogun West agenda and its development, it must start with jettisoning the idea that only they can represent the Ogun West governorship agenda.

According to him, the Aworis have not sat or signed with anyone of having no ambition to occupy the exalted seat in 2027.

He maintained that the Ogun West agenda is broader, more rational, and definable than a monolithic objective, which has been plagued with a history of defeat and failure.

He suggested that an ethno political agenda with unity and cooperation from home and a more nuanced understanding and participation across board, which he said must involve and include the traditional leaders, the politicians, professionals, and other critical and key players in the Ogun West region.

The YEWA DAY 2024 event where Hon. Tunji Akinosi delivered this presentation had in attendance the paramount ruler of Yewa Land and chairman of the Ogun State Obas Council, Oba Kehinde Olugbenle, the political and intellectual class, and indigenes of Yewa Land home and residents abroad.
